Yes you are right Brietta,   this is what Kate says in her book -

According to the files,   the tracker dogs did not go out until 11o' clock 4th of May.  At some point in the first twenty four hours [I could not say when exactly but probably that morning]  I recall one of the GNR patrol officers asking us for some of Madeleine's clothing or belongings to enable these dogs to identify her scent.  I fetched the pink princess blanket she took to bed with her every night, which they took, and some of her clothes which they didn't.

So the GNR had the pink blanket late on the morning of the 4th of May,  after the photo's were taken.  It wasn't put back on the bed.

Rumour had it at the time that The Pink Blanket finished up in The Cat Basket at Portimao Police Station.

The McCanns got their precious blanket back or the PJ would have got more abuse in her book! Now what they did with it is for SY to ask!

Smithman carrying a child in his arms checked his watch after passing the Smith family and the time was 10:03. Both are still unidentified 10 years later.

Lacao's dog had 'some training' in tracking. Kate doesn't remember when she handed over the blanket; she says so.

Not a toughie, quite simple really ... those which are substantiated by evidence are always worth thinking about.  Such as the FSS forensics reports as recorded in the files.

Similarly ...  those which have also been recorded in the files but which have been misunderstood or have been misrepresented should rightly be avoided like the plague.  Such as the FSS forensics reports as recorded in the files.
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

In my opinion all water under the bridge at this late stage in Madeleine's still open investigation.  The first dogs taken to Luz were Portuguese police patrol dogs ... Eddie and Keela were offered but the offer was declined ...
Snip
British police forces offered local detectives the use of dogs earlier in the case just days after Madeleine went missing. The help was rejected at that time, with Portuguese dogs used instead.

Two dogs attached to Britain's National Policing Improvement Agency have developed such powerful tracking skills they can follow a scent for miles, even one up to 28 days old.

But the source warned: "They work most effectively within a 28-day time frame. After that the scent becomes much weaker."

Interpol also volunteered their help on the 4th May http://www.mccannpjfiles.co.uk/PJ/PJ_INTERPOL.htm#p2p454  ... so there was plenty of assistance on offer ... something worth remembering for the next occasion when it is suggested the hard pressed Portuguese investigation was buckling under the pressure.  They really didn't have to.  There appear to have been plenty of offers on the table.

Then perhaps also to be avoided like the plague are those which initially appeared in the Portuguese press as "from a source close to the PJ" and there were plenty of those flying around.

Aye, almost as bad as 'a source close to the family' and 'a family pal' - and there were plenty of those.  8(0(*

But none of which fed vicious nasty rumours I think you will find the majority were either accredited or were setting the record straight on the lies and misinformation spewing from the propaganda machine which had been set in motion by the source 'close to the PJ'.

Lacao's dog had 'some training' in tracking. Kate doesn't remember when she handed over the blanket; she says so.

Reading through the statements,   the Inspector says that he arranged for the twins to be taken from their cots so that there could be an examination of the bedroom,  he was there along with the forensic photographer who took the photos.   The forensic photographer was there very early on, before the dogs.   This was also taken from Silvia who was the interpreter she says the twins had been taken from their cots and Gerry says this -

She thought that the child's mother was devastated, the father was worried and also asked to notify the press and to get dogs to search.

So I don't think the dogs had arrived then.

The forensic photographer was concerned about people entering the crime scene so they had the place cordoned off,  I doubt very much if Kate would have been allowed to nip in and get the pink blanket, which was part of the crime scene.
