What a bunch of nonsense arguments youhave put forward tonight......Time to take my leave here of this codswallop

In your opinion...and at the end of the day... ---edited out inappropriate comment--

It is surprising that the e-petition only has 14, 000 + signatories so far. The law is that once 100,000 signatures are received, a backbench review committee has to take on the matter.

This would place the question of funding and support for the case in government hands and would make sidestepping a lot more difficult. The decision might be positive or negative - but just getting to the point  of having matters officially considered would be a big step.

As Redblossom says, it doesn't cost anything to sign the petition.
You have to be British.

how much support did the McCanns online petition get...the bottom line is that they have far more support than the Needhams

Whats that supposed to mean??? Perhaps it had something to do with the media supporting the Mccanns and publicising said petition to millions of readers!!!and not Kerry Needham!! ouf! Not rocket science! Still, Ben can make his own way home.......your heartless posts  tonight have shown you up for what you are.....have fun...! I shan't be repying to you anymore here

Is a petition necessary for that ?
There's that European requisite of 1 million people in the EU requesting the examination of a matter of collective concern.

Sorry I missed this....there must be a way of increasing the signatures.....through an influential facebook or twitter page....100 k signatures is nothing if the right avenues are found

An interesting lead with the caution of some authority would do. There must be some hope, otherwise people desist, nobody likes losing.

The point of the petition is that by law the government has no choice in addressing the matter (once the requisite number of signatories is amassed, that is).

Media and other kinds of pressure don't seem to have worked in the Needham case.

I don't know anything about the European requisite - can you tell me more?

I was thinking of contacting celebrities via twitter just to tweet the petition link and their thousands of fans  retweeting it to all their friends, I dont know how you could start this, just an idea.....

and Im sure none of them would think Cameron is right and Ben can find his own way home cos hes old enough!!! So I wont sign!

It's not today's parliament to blame for Ben not getting the search he did deserve it's whoever was in power at the time .madeleine is still a very young child not a grown adult .
If there would have been the www all them years ago maybe he would have had the help . In Kerry's mind he may still be that little boy .
Not very nice her dragging madeleine in to her case
Same thing if you leave children alone there is a chance they will get hurt or stolen . Wasn't our police in Greece digging up land not so long ago ?

The WWW has nothing at all to do with whether a govt helps a British citizen minimally or over and above.....Sooo Kazcutt if its not the current govts fault why dont they put it right?

You can't say much in a tweet, but if it is well said there's nothing better.

You can say as much as is needed, pls sign and give a link....thats probably less than the characters allowed....I am not sure,  I dont do twitter myself....I think Kerry Needham deserves some help after all these years, not much to ask is it

If it's crucial that your tweet is read, it has to attract attention. I surf on twitter once in a while, catch three or four informations, laugh once at best and sometimes feel like replying. Purely for fun, because it is an autistic space, those who tweet usually don't read, they don't have time for that, I guess they're on twitter only for the challenge of expressing themselves in a limited number of words.

I do feel for Kerry Needham and wish her success in her continued search. But - I also think that comparing both Ben and Madeleines abductions at this point in time is wrong.

Ben has been gone for so long that finding leads and clues that were ignored will be harder. And yes it is appalling the way Bens abduction was treated back then by the Greek and UK Police. I'm sure it wouldn't be the same today. Kerry should be afforded help and I think there was activity recently and I hope it continues.

In Madeleines case there is still a chance that mistakes or things ignored might be resurrected and Madeleine or whoever was responsible for taking her could be discovered.
