Who's Cook?  I am not frightfully up on Football or Cricket.  Although I have been known to watch a bit of Rugby.

I once saw The All Blacks wipe the floor with The Royal Navy, and being ex Navy myself, one would know whose side I was on.  But it was done with such grace and glory that I instantly forgave The All Blacks forever.

You've never heard of Alistair Cooke?

I don't follow cricket but I do watch international rugby occasionally and I love seeing the All Blacks do the haka.

On topic. I don't believe there is any sectarianism in the McCann case but of course that is my opinion only.

Oh, Him.  All the Commentators ever talk about is what they would have done if it was them, along with Seagulls and Tesco's Plastic bags on the pitch.  Not to forget the odd Streaker

Yep, I love The Haka too.

But you are right.  Back On Topic.

Not sure about Sectarianism.  Sometime people will use anything, so you are probably right about that as well.

Sectarianism is related to tribalism. Loyalty to the 'tribe' is paramount and affects how members behave towards those perceived as belonging to the opposing 'tribe'.

n extreme cases where segregation has existed, such as Northern Ireland, the opposition are actually hated. Not because of any personal shortcomings, because the two sides don't know each other personally. They are hated just because of their membership of the opposing 'tribe'.

Tribalism overrides reason and I have seen this in the McCann divide. Not all those who disbelieve the McCann's story 'hate' them, nor do they abuse them, nor are they part of a group. They are, however, accused of all those things. They are labelled 'sceptics' and 'trolls' in order to suggest a group identity exists, in my opinion.

I often wonder if you were to take the McCanns out of the equation how well we’d get on ?

I agree. Most of us are individuals, not members of 'tribes'. Using what I see as tribal/sectarian strategies has, in my opinion, made reasoned discussion very difficult. I don't hate anyone, and the constant use of the word is very irritating. Whatever happened on 3rd May 2007 the McCanns have, without a doubt, suffered.

Scoring points by referring to other forums, blogs and Twitter doesn't help either. If we can all agree that what happens here has nothing to do with what happens elsewhere we could eliminate those arguments and accusations.
We might even be able to build a forum which debates the facts of the case in a mature and reasonable manner.  That would be an achievement we could all be proud of in my opinion.
