I'm not suggesting anything. I'm pointing out what imo are mistakes in other's arguments. They seem to have assumed that a friend wouldn't have been allowed to check the children IF the parents knew one had died;

Unless it's assumed they left the body lying around, I see no reason for them to stop their friend checking the children.
