Jeremy Bamber - Brett Collins

Jeremy Bamber befriended Brett Collins when he visited New Zealand between July and October 1983. 
Collins was reported to have owned some sort of cafe in New Zealand.

Collins was in Greece when he heard of the murders and immediately travelled to England and
a reunion with Bamber.  He resided with Bamber at the house in Goldhanger which Nevill used
as a farmworkers abode.



Collins travelled with Bamber to London where they stayed at Sheila's old flat and hocked the
family antiques round the salerooms.  It was Collins who approached Fleet Street in an attempt
to entice newspapers editors to buy semi naked modelling pictures of Sheila.

Robert Boutflour had a private detective shadow Collins and Bamber and reported their movements
to police.

Not much more is known about Collins after Bambers arrest...

There is something of the dark side in Bamber and Collins' relationship. Julie certainly didn't like Collins being around 24/7.

Collins was homosexual or bisexual, don't really know which so one wonders if Jerry as Julie called him was the same.  He certainly looked the part in some of the photographs that I have now been able to get hold of.

At the trial it was revealed that Jerry had a number of homosexual friends, it was also suggested that he was a psychopath. 

One journalist says he met up with Jerry and Brett Collins in Bambers local pub.  He said that they were giggling like two schoolboys and making sexual innuendos toward each other pretending they were gay.

Personnally I think Bamber wanted to be adored by Julie or Brett or anyone who would adore him. He adores himself and wants everyone to do the same.

Now Julie and Brett have been replaced by Daniele and Mike. I quite honestly believe these two would support and fight for Bamber 24/7 even if he admitted the killings.

He would be about 58 now wouldn't he?  Does anyone know why he was called Brett (scooter) Collins?

It seems Mr Collins confirmed that Jeremy didn't get on with his parents and that Jeremy's family, the trustees, his aunts and uncles have not been supportive.  Could you blame them?

I think Scooter was just a camp nickname for a camp bloke in 1986.

I don't know if Bamber was gay or bisexual or had had homosexual experiences at the time. I'm pretty sure he has now though. Julie does mention about finding Bamber with his head in Collins' lap while Brett was stroking his hair on one occasion which does suggest their relationship may have been sexual. I don't think it really matters much or makes any difference though.

What is interesting is BC's disappearance since then. It would be interesting to find out what he knew.
