So you go out every evening leaving your children home alone. You decide that looking in on them every half hour is satisfactory. Then your daughter makes a comment which suggests that something happened during one of those half hours; your children cried and you missed it. Even worse, your child noticed you were absent.

So what is your response? According to your friends you left a door unlocked so your child could find you if there was more crying; even though you didn't really believe her;

"Could Madeleine and Sean have woken up while we were at dinner? If so, it was worrying, obviously, but it didn’t seem very probable." [madeleine]

According to their spokesman Clarence Mitchell;

He said Kate and Gerry discussed the matter and and decided it was safe to go out to the tapas bar on the evening of May 3 once the children were asleep - but they would be more "active and diligent" in their checks.

What did that mean? The same half hourly checks they had been making for the previous 5 evenings, apparently. During the first of those checks a door appeared to have been interfered with. Was it the child who moved it? Apparently not, she was sleeping soundly in exactly the same position she had been in 30 minutes earlier. Gerry therefore went off without solving the mystery, and without giving it another thought, apparently.

Have you never come across a situation that you found momentarily odd, and then discarded it beyond the moment.

No, of course you haven't.

And even that one is in some doubt as to exactly who was crying.  There are at least two definitions on which of the children that Madeleine mentioned.

Which means her parents were so concerned they couldn't actually remember what she'd said?

I once came upon a similarly odd situation related to my children and I took steps to be on hand to protect them just in case.

That is grossly unfair.  It has all been used and abused by The Media.

Or are you suggesting that The McCanns came up with conflicting statements?

Jolly well done and bully for you.  I was never that perfect.

Yes.

So you think that The McCanns lied about which of the children were supposed to have been crying.

Why would they do that?  This doesn't make sense.  What bearing would this have on who stole what?

On 4th May they both signed statements saying that the twins had cried. This was later changed to Sean and Madeleine had cried. I didn't say they lied, btw, those were your words. I mentioned forgetting what their daughter said to them.

Would you immediately think something had happened to Madeleine during on of those 'half hours'?   Madeleine said why didn't you come when I cried,  so they didn't know when she had cried.   I honestly believe Madeleine was talking about the Tuesday night, when one of the twins woke her up and she called Daddy.

When Madeleine told the McCanns she woke up did the McCanns think “something must have happened to wake her up”?

Kate and Gerry McCann volunteered that information.  Why would they do that if there was anything at all dodgy about it ??? why would they forget what Madeleine said ??? and why would they get it wrong ???

Quote from the woman who was there and knows exactly what was said ...
At breakfast time, Madeleine had a question for us. ‘Why didn’t you come when Sean and I cried last night?’

"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

Did she really?  Refuse to answer and help the investigation?  So her statements to the police were fabricated by whom?
