Are you claiming that the McCanns were only able to return to Britain because the UK government intervened?

It goes without saying that events could have turned out very differently had the UK Government not intervened.
A malicious prosecution for a crime which never existed. An exposé of egregious malfeasance by public officials.
Indeed, the truth never changes with the passage of time.

In what way... You mean the mccanns could have been a miscarriage of justice if  the pj didn't realise they had to play it by the book

What specifically did the UK government do to change the outcome of this case?

You make be questioned for five hours sound like a walk in the park.  Kate was advised not to answer the questions, it was obvious they were trying to frame her.  The Officers told her that a witness had seen Kate and Gerry with a large black bag,  they had Madeleine's DNA and they knew she was lying.  After that I wouldn't have been told twice to say nothing.  If they had arrested her,  then no one would be looking for Madeleine, as it would have been Kate did it,  case solved.

Kate was advised not to answer the questions but we don't know why her lawyer gave her that advice. According to Kate it was him who mentioned the bag and the DNA, not the police.

Strangely enough when "pokuce" is put into Google all the suggestions are to do with the police!

He was concerned for her.  Lawyers often act for the guilty.

Dianne Webster was in the apartment 5 minutes after the alarm was raised. The window was closed. David Payne didn't even see the open window when he entered after the alarm was raised. The only people in the apartment before them were Kate and Gerry and they both say it was open - surprise surprise!

Consequently she infers that at the time of her arrival at the apartment the window would have been closed.

Smithman carrying a child in his arms checked his watch after passing the Smith family and the time was 10:03. Both are still unidentified 10 years later.

Well if she misunderstood what he was saying and the PJ didn't offer a deal then the advice he gave her suggests he thought the PJ were on the right track.
