If they're incorrect the witnesses need to explain why they signed them.

Probably as they couldn't read them they didn't know they were incorrect

True; you can both choose to ignore the facts if you wish.

This is most definitely In Your Opinion.

Doubly translated.  Jeez !    And did you say they were READ back to them.  They should have been in writing, rather than explained in broken English

Is this what you consider Justice, Gunit ?

The witness spoke, the interpreter repeated what was said to the PJ Officer. At the end the interpreter read out what the PJ Officer typed. If what was written didn't match what was said the witness wouldn't have signed.

You seem to be assuming that the interpreters spoke broken English. Do you have evidence of that?

What a load of rubbish.

and you are obviously in denial too...see if you can add  a little more fact to the debte rather than your biased unsubstantaited opinion....facts such as this telegraph article,,,,

inconsistencies in the statements given by the McCanns and the group of friends who were dining with them at the time of Madeleine's disappearance may have been caused by errors in translation, it emerged today.

Portuguese detectives investigating the case of the missing four-year-old have admitted that they are reassessing the original witness statements to look for inaccuracies in their translation.

"In the early days of the investigation there were dozens of statements being given at what was a very confusing time," a police source said.

"Obviously the police acted in good faith in their selection of translators but given all that has been said about the various contradictions in the versions of events, detectives are now re-examining the possibility that there may have been some problems," he said.

The admission came as police undertake a thorough review of the case under the new head of the inquiry, Portugal's second most senior policeman Paulo Rebelo, 45.

to correct your obvious misundersatnding......the interpreter did not read back what the PJ Officer typed...you are 100 % wrong...you obviosly dont realise what happened

Are you suggesting that the interpreter deliberately told the witnesses lies about what was written in the statements?

"With all formal witness statements, the interview is read over and its contents explained. After having shown their agreement with their statements, the interviewee confirms and signs as accurate the content of the document that follows, conjointly with the "sworn" interpreter, where one is used. This is normal procedure in all formal interviews. In co-signing, the interpreter commits themself legally concerning the accuracy of their translation."
