Which has just been translated for them. By an interpreter who has signed to say their translation was correct.
We don't know if the translation is correct... According to Kate there were mistakes.  The mccanns had no idea what was written in Portuguese if itsvan accurate translation

They paid to have the statements translated. They have never claimed that they were inaccurate.

We were concerned that parts of the statements we had made to the Portuguese police, especially on that first day, might have been lost in translation. We also felt that these accounts were not sufficiently thorough and wanted
to have every detail we could remember registered properly [madeleine]

lost in translation means;

Of a word or words, having lost or lacking the full subtlety of meaning or significance when translated from the original language to another
https://idioms.thefreedictionary.com/lost+in+translation

So 'lost in translation' doesn't mean incorrect. It means that the meaning of what was said wasn't quite captured. An example might be saying 'gobsmacked' for example. There's no equivalent word in Portuguese, so something like 'astounded' (espantada) would have to be substituted. There's a subtle difference in meaning and it's lost in translation.

Kate talks about mistakes and you know it... It's been discussed many times before.  Plus... You are, taking one interpretation of lost in translation and assuming that's what Kate meant... I think you know the truth but can't bear to admit it

Unfortunately, in our haste to pass the newstatements on to the PJ, we made the mistake of assuming that the transcripts would be correct and discovered only many months later that these, too, contained inaccuracies

So Kate says  these too contained inaccuracies... Meaning the first statements also contained inaccuracies

Kate also tells us that when she tried to correct a MISTAKE made by her translator... The translator became very offended

Best to stick to the facts... Trying to bend the truth does your argument no favours

Kate also says.

that at every stage of the process the scope for mistakes in translation and misunderstandings was considerable.

Well if Kate claims it in her book then it must be true.
She certainly doesn't come across as a massive liar or anything like that.

If a person makes accusations they should be able to back them up with factual examples. Mrs McCann has given none.

You claimed Kate had not complained about mistakes... You are obviously wrong so are now saying something  else..
It's not up to you to decide what Kate has to do... She's supplied the PJ with the corrections

She mentioned one mistake, but didn't say what it was. She says statements given to CRG were supplied to the PJ, but there's nothing in the PJ files to support that. Nothing that Kate said on this subject can be verified.

If Kate McCann wanted to cast doubt on the statements made to the PJ she succeeded to the extent that her supporters have accused the PJ or the interpreters of misrepresenting what she and her husband told them.

Her supporters have chosen to believe that the anomolies in their statements were caused by misunderstandings or misinterpretations. They don't know if that's true, of course, but they assume that's what Kate was referring to. She never said what she was referring to, so her supporters are in fact guessing.

Taking just one point, Kate says they left and entered 5A using the main door on May 3rd;

After breakfast they got dressed and left the apartment by the main door.

They entered the apartment by the main door, with the key. She does not know if it was locked, and presumes it was Gerry who opened it. At lunch time they also entered by the same door.

Gerry, however, differed;

KATE and the children left by the rear door, he having left by the front door, which he locked with the key, having also closed and locked the rear door from the inside.

After 17H30 they went to the apartment, the deponent having entered by the main door, which he did not lock while he was inside the residence. KATE and the children entered by the rear door, after this had been opened from the inside by the deponent.

These differences can't, in my opinion, be explained away by saying there were losses of meaning during translation, mistakes or misunderstandings, but Kate's supporters think they can be imo.

I think...based on the evidence...its quite reasonble to think there were errors due to transaltions in the statements. You disagree. Because of the way the statements were taken there is no way we can check. Thats it...Its down to opinion...but the evidence supports mistakes
