Didn't see Tanner is what you should have said.

Too much Semantics going on again.

And what do you deduce from this?

I don't pretend to deduce any thing,I've shown a sample of a statement.

So can nothing be deduced from this oft repeated observation in your view? In which case why keep banging on about it?

Not sure if I've continued to bang on about it.
In my opinion it just highlights the conundrum facing SY in sorting wheat from chaff, won't be long now, the finest are on it.

Oh right, so this is the first time you’ve ever mentioned it then?

Near the stairs not by the stairs.

The fact remains that early on the men were described as standing near to the gate of 5A.

JT leaves table, and sees GM talking with fellow resident ("Jez" Wilkins) outside the patio gate of 5A. The two were standing just up the hill from the gate towards Rua A. da Silva Road.

This can't be true if Gerry left by the side gate.

Why do you reply to it then - I would say it is one of the far too many inconsistencies in this case.

Seems to be what Tanner said. Was she wrong ?

Was he seen exiting the side gate?

How many inconsistencies would be permissible in your view?  Can you put a number on it?

Here are the possible reasons for the inconsistency -
1) Jane Tanner lied.  She never walked past Gerry and Jes although she DID at some point in time close to the time Gerry and Jes were chatting see a man carrying a child who was later identified by SY and eliminated.
2) Jane Tanner lied.  She never walked past Gerry and Jes and she never saw a man carrying a child, it's pure coincidence that a man matching her description carrying a child at the time she said she saw him was identified by SY
3) Jane Tanner lied, she never walked past Gerry and Jes and the Met are lying too when they say her sighting has been identified and eliminated
4) Jane Tanner did not lie, Gerry did not see her but Jes did - the latter is lying about not seeing her.
5) Jane Tanner did not lie, Gerry did see her but lied about not seeing her, Jes did not see her
6) Jane did not lie, but both Gerry and Jes lied about not seeing her.
7) No one lied, they all remembered events slightly differently, and the men who were engaged in conversation did not notice Jane walk by.

Have I missed anything out?  Can we take a vote on which seems the most plausible explanation?
