It appears the evidence is so closely guarded that the police forces involved aren’t even sharing it with each other.

Very odd behaviour from organisations claiming to be working collaboratively.
You have literally no idea what information that police have gathered, nor what information they have shared with each other.  It’s revealing  that complete ignorance on these matters has resulted in such arrogance on the part of you and your little cabal of pooh-poohers.

As no one knows the answer then it's perfectly possible that the decision was based on opinion rather than evidence. It's also possible that the opinion was wrong. If so, then it's possible that they have spent years investigating the wrong crime and are persuing the wrong perpetrator.

The Met’s involvement, known as Operation Grange, is led by the Specialist Crime Command unit and involved, in the first instance, an ‘investigative review’.  This was a review of all of the investigations that had been previously conducted into the circumstances of Madeleine McCann’s disappearance.

G Unit where does it say abduction.

We know full well Wolters hasn't shared the death evidence with Grange, the PJ, Madeleine's parents or Brueckner's lawyer.

Give them a chance, they've narrowed it down to not knowing where he (CB) was.

Bruekner was trying to hide where he was.  And telling fibs.  That in itself is very suspicious.

We know full well only what we were told about 2 years ago.  I thought we weren't supposed to believe a word the police, the media or the McCanns told us anyway?  Pick and choose, pick and choose...

We know full well, or at least some of us cottoned on over 2 years ago, that Wolters never really had any concrete evidence. That is why Brueckner is never being charged with anything relating to Madeleine's disappearance.

Maybe he was out selling drugs or raping grannies & doesn't want to tell the police that.

It is highly suspicious that Brueckner might have been somewhere in & around the area that he happened to reside in.

According to Brueckner his phone was wandering around Luz on it's own.

You've never read the remit?

In July 2013 the status of the Met’s enquiries changed to that of an investigation, working with the Portuguese authorities to pursue specific lines of enquiry.

The Portuguese authorities retain the lead and the Met continues to work in support of them.

You've never read the remit?

They did a review of the case first there is no mention of abduction they say disappearance.

You are saying they were only working on the abduction theory at the very beginning.

Was it even his phone?
Certainly, Wolters hasn't proven as much.

I wonder where you get your information from? Read the remit! OG conducted both a review and an investigation from the very beginning.
