So the Germans did write a letter, HCW was not lying, always good to give people the benefit of the doubt when you’re not in full possession of the facts.

The thing is though, all of this was revealed in the media at the time.

The distortion of the facts posted on this forum which at one time was the byword for accuracy and integrity was not done through ignorance or accidentally.
Just an illustration of a lack of probity and yet more undermining of the ethos which allows the likes of thee and me to have a very small voice amongst the existing plethora of sceptic internet pollution.

It is also a perfect illustration of the corruption and manipulation behind sceptic logic which seems to think the ruined life of a family is just one big game for their amusement.

Scotland Yard reportedly did not send letter to Maddie parents
The British police allegedly did not forward a letter about Maddie's death to her parents. This is now reported by a British newspaper.

Maddie McCann is dead! The German investigators are said to have informed the parents of the since 2007 missing British girl in a letter. The German prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters confirmed this in an interview with the Italian newspaper "La Repubblica".

They wanted to inform the parents before they learn about this from the media. "It was a personal, human decision. We are not obliged to contact witnesses – and they are witnesses," Wolters said. And: "We did not want to surprise them with the announcement of the murder investigation."

But: Kate and Gerry McCann deny the receipt of this letter. Even on their website, they denied this.

Now the British "Sun" writes that there are even two letters that the parents apparently never reached. The letters had been sent via the British police. But they would probably simply not have forwarded the mail.

"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

Mr Wolters said this week: 'We have concrete evidence that our suspect has killed Madeleine and this means she is dead.

'The parents have been told the German police have evidence that she is dead but we have not told them the details.'

However, Kate and Gerry hit back with a furious rebuke, in which they said: 'The widely reported news that we have a received a letter from the German authorities that states there is evidence or proof that Madeleine is dead is FALSE.'

It was only a matter of time, the entire thing was a farce.

a spokesman for the Met said this afternoon: 'The Met received one letter from the Bundeskriminalamt (BKA) on June 12, which was passed to the family.

'The letter did not state that there was evidence or proof that Madeleine is dead - the Met continue to investigate Madeleine’s disappearance as a missing person investigation. No letter has been received by the Met from the German prosecutor'.

Amazing how reliable and honest you believe the Met to be when it suits you, isn’t it?

I'm repeating what was reported, not what I believe. I'm not someone who has placed my faith in any police force, nor have I tried to convince others that there are three police forces with a common goal. Clearly Operation Grange were not prepared to put their faith in the German 'concrete evidence' that the child was dead;

Best leave it to the McCann's .

Operation Grange Statement: June 19, 2020
The Met received one letter from the BKA on 12 June, which was passed to the family. The letter did not state that there was evidence or proof that Madeleine is dead, the MPS continues to investigate Madeleine’s disappearance as a missing person investigation. No letter has been received by the Met from the German prosecutor.

Kate & Gerry McCann Statement: June 16th, 2020
Since the recent police appeals regarding Madeleine’s disappearance there have been many inaccurate stories reported in the media.  The widely reported news that we have a received a letter from the German authorities that states there is evidence or proof that Madeleine is dead is FALSE.  Like many unsubstantiated stories in the media, this has caused unnecessary anxiety to friends and family and once again disrupted our lives.

As we have stated many times before, we will not give a running commentary on the investigation- that is the job of the law enforcement agencies and we will support them in any way requested.  Furthermore, we do not have a family spokesperson nor are we actively paying any lawyers.  Any recent comments attributed in the media have not come from us unless they have been posted on our website.  If there are important developments that can be made public, they will be issued through official police channels.

I cannot make my mind up as to who looks more inept, Scotland Yard's Operation Grange or the German Prosecutor's Office.

All this over a letter or letters that the McCann might or might not have received. What a joke!!!

No what you are doing is picking on what you perceive to be inconsistencies to weave a narrative of incompetence and/or  deception on the part of whichever agency or individual you have it in for at the time.  Earlier it was the Met you were attempting to cast doubt upon wrt to their integrity and professionalism and right now it’s HCW, because it suits you to at this point in the discussion.  You refuse to give anyone the benefit of the doubt or to simply wait and see how things pan out, you prefer to speculate and cast suspicions because I guess that’s just way more entertaining.

Pathetic!

You know the truth and persist with weaving your fantasy.  That was always par for your course meaning that nothing you post can ever be taken at face value.

A MISTAKE was made.  The BKA did exactly as the prosecutor intimated they had.  They sent a communication to the witnesses via Scotland Yard - although they were under no obligation to do so.  They did so in consideration of the horrible information they had to convey.

Not forgetting that there are serious Portuguese cases in the German system which for some reason or other the Portuguese system either couldn't cope with or didn't bother with.

Is it incompetence - or is it a case of sticking the head into the sand and telling oneself  with confidence that such things cannot possibly happen in Portugal?

Neither of us know the truth. Imo I have reported what was said, and it's you who are spinning the tale to fit your agenda. Communicating with the child's parents is the least they could do after telling the world she was dead. Expecting them to believe that without evidence was naive to say the least; particularly as the UK police didn't.
