It's an innocent enough question

why I wonder do certain parties get so het up about it?

changing my answer - it is a stupid question for the Mccanns - will you ever understand that?

They never offered a reward.

Try to deal with that in your mind.

it really is amazing that people ignore the post and say things like hitting a raw nerve.

It has been said for 6 years by the same people over and over again when a logical explanation has been given.

We only need a few tic tocks on this forum now for it to become the same as every other nonsense forum.

People may have innocent questions, but the reality may - justifiably - need to be kept quiet for all sorts of reasons.

We dont know if the Mccanns have control of the money.  Do we?

If they don't, how foolish they would be if they confirmed the reward was still available ... and then the benefactor renagued.

In fact they might be liable to cough up themselves, which clearly they could not ..... as far as we are aware!

OK, so if I had credible intel tonight about where the child was located and called 'Team McCann' and said - '2.5 million and I personally take you to the girl' - and someone at the other end hangs up on me - because the 'reward' is a bit of a mistery?

Is that what it boils down to?

There either is a massive cash incentive to find the child - or there isn't.

I took that for the OP's intention

That sounds like a blackmail attempt to me - similar to the one recently attempted on Kerry Needham.

Nonsense

The offer was: 2.5 million for the safe return of the child

A clear deal

the point of this thread is - is that deal still on the table or not?

and if not, why not?

So the deal is - give me 2.5 million and I'll tell you where Madeleine is?  That sounds awful like blackmail to me.

that's how capitalism works - darn sad - but fact

get over it

Not everyone is motivated by money. There are other values... empathy and community spirit, for example (whether it is with the families or the missing child).

As time goes on, some people may have suspicions, but are unwilling to come forward - perhaps in case they get accused as "accesories".

all very laudable

but why do you think Richard Branson pledged 1.5 million to the reward?

Because he is an astute business man and knows how the world (outside Polyanna land) works

As someone who has worked with Branson I would say it has everything to do with the fact that he is a decent bloke first and foremost.

You may have worked with him - even known him - I have no way of checking this

Branson has clear business acumen

the understanding that everyone and everything has a price

Whilst I am sure that you would gladly give any information relating to Madeleine

to the police or Team McCann - without expecting a financial reward

thousand others would not

that's how the cooky crumbles

and this thread is to explore whether that financial incentive is still in place

and if not, why not?

I see you have gone into stupid mode

Have you asked the people who offered the reward yet - or are you just going to go round in circles?

HINT - ask the people who offered the reward.

It is very obvious that the reward which was offered for the safe return of Madeleine McCann and which was publicised in a blaze of publicity no longer exists.  What incentive is there for anyone with crucial information as to her whereabouts to come forward any more?  Do members think this is a backward step after 6 years or is there more to this than meets the eye?   8(0(* 8(0(*

The Mccanns never offered a reward..
