  • Why are some folks so sick in the head!!!
Registrar, if you know who committed a crime but refuse to tell the police unless paid a large sum of money are you telling me that this is perfectly legal behaviour?

Martha, I am sure you're a good egg

But you seem to live in a fluffy dreamworld

Say, I knew exactly where Madeleine was right now - and my incentive for 'spilling' was money

Would I not wait for an offer to be on the table?

That's the entire point of the reward - is it not? - alas we don't know whether there is a reward in existence

That's what the thread/OP tried to explore - and got an awful lot of peeps hot under the collar

Well, you tell us, what you would do.  ?>)()<

Keep your mouth shut, if the offer wasn't good enough?

It has been claimed that the McCanns never offered a reward for the safe return of Madeleine.

This poster says differently.

no one would ever get the reward if madeleine didnt turn up safe so there is no excuse to not advertise it

Dear Sir/Madam,

In answer to your questions:

As far as I know the rewards offered by the 'News Of The World'
and other benefactors are still available.

However, we have had varying advice about the possible benefits
and problems of rewards.

So after consulation, a decision was made not to push the rewards
on our website - although the situation is constantly being reviewed.

In the meantime, if anyone has any information that may help our
Investigation Team, they should contact:

Dear Sir/Madam

Could you answer 3 questions for me please?

[1] Why is the reward not shown on the official site?
[2] Is the reward no longer available?
[3] If it is no longer available what is the reason?

Many thanks

Pamalam

Here is another instance.

Giant Madeleine Poster Unveiled.

The parents of four-year-old Madeleine McCann have been to see a giant poster designed to publicise the appeal for their missing daughter.

The inflatable billboard, made in Glasgow, was unveiled on a beach at Praia da Luz, Algarve, Portugal, near to where she was taken on 3 May.

Gerry and Kate McCann thanked people who have been going to "absolutely extraordinary lengths" to help them.

The rewards were put up by various benefactors Admin.  I very much doubt that the money was handed over to The Mccanns.

They advertised the rewards, yes, but they are in the hands of the benefactors if they should renege

As I said before, it would be mighty tricky going to the benefactors and demanding to know if the rewards are still there.  Could cause conflict.

Anyone claiming the reward would need to approach the benefactor, imo ... and if they feel aggrieved go to the Mccanns afterwards

This was created by the News Of The World who put up a large part of the reward money, not the McCanns.

You are missing the point, the McCanns gave the reward incentive their blessing at the time, they were happy to back it.   It now appears that they are no longer promoting it.

The McCanns stand in front of the giant REWARD poster which some would have us believe they didn't support.

I dont see that Admin.  I see a couple who were confident the money was there 6 years ago, but are not so sure now.  And they prefer not to be so forward as to ask.

Could be, of course , that the benefactors put a time limitation on the rewards

Admin, you claimed above that the McCanns were offering a reward.  Do you accept that you were mistaken?

It says on the poster help find our Madeleine.  So who's Madeleine is it if it isn't the McCanns?

Offline sadie

It doesn't say they are giving the reward, Admin.

It wasn't their money to give, was it?

They merely advertised there was a reward.  There may, or may not, be a reward now.

Nobody has claimed it was their money?   They offered a reward on the basis of offers from benefactors.  The title of the thread is "Has the reward money for the safe return of Madeleine McCann been dropped".

For all intents and purposes therefore nobody can claim any reward because it is no longer promoted.

The answer to the thread title therefore is YES.  The reward has been dropped.

Great, well that's settled it then.

No its not settled by any means.   The Mccanns were all too happy to receive the help of offers of rewards from newspapers and others prior to suing them and Leveson.   Is it not the case that those newpapers who were sued are now less than happy to have anythig to do with them and that includes a reward?
De troothe has the annoying habit of coming to the surface just when you least expect it!!

Je ne regrette rien!!

It would have been better had The Mccanns sued much earlier.  It would have stopped a great deal of the rubbish they had to put up with.

It is quite obvious to me that they preferred not to go down the suing path, but as everthing escalated, their hand was forced.
