Both the Irwin & Sperrey statements are missing from the official files on the DVD released, I think.

Not checked DVD, but this is where they are mentioned.

MICHAEL SPERREY
CLARE SPERREY

------ In the main reception (open 24h) of the Ocean Club, the signatory [undersigned] was able to observe a person with long hair, curly, blonde in colour, with camouflage shorts and green sweat-shirt, which fit the description of the suspect of the "Rastas", it being that I questioned the receptionist about him, who said that this individual and his wife are guests in the hotel and he has been tireless, since yesterday, in search of the missing girl. Attached are photocopies of their passports as well as the hotel registration form. ----------

Note from Albym

[The very last paragraph of my translation of pages 121-125 in /PJ/TAPAS-EMPLOYEES.htm states that they are passport copies of the person identified as the man with 'Rasta' hairstyle, camouflage shorts and green sweat-shirt (taken to be the person seen by Jez Wilkins per his witness statement), and his wife. They were resort guests. I have no reference to a formal witness statement from them on file, merely the above identification to eliminate them from the inquiry.]

And these 2 were having a meal, from 9pm. Seems odd they wouldn't still be there at 10pm, doesn't it?

Interesting, but they weren't interviewed? How odd....

Nor the Irwins.

The Cox couple may possibly have still been there as their booking seems to have changed from 7:30 to 8.

I don't think we can assume that because something does not appear in the police files,  then it did not happen

Kate herself says that Portuguese authorites possess a great deal of material that is not included in the police file released into the public domain

Why would other tourists dining in the restaurant be in the "confidential" files? Their identities are in the files... but no statements. The PJ asked several of the Tapas group if they knew the Irwins (none of them did).

If they had simply gone back home (or had carried on with an itinerant holiday), hopefully they contacted Crimestoppers with any information that they may have had.

OC guests who weren't supposed to be in PDL or together might have asked for confidentiality.

There are many peoples statements which are not in the files, some of these are statements given back in the uk to the police there, some of these we have in the files, some we dont. Also if anyone called crimestoppers with any information, they will have done so anonymously, and crimestopper calls are one of the categories of information that is stated in the files thay have been kept back for this reason. There is the possibility that some will have given named statements but asked police for confidentiality at all costs, and this info could have been passed on to the PJ

Why are we assuming that any information not released in the files is  'confidential'  in nature

If that were the case,  surely the Gasper statements would have been withheld

Might it not be the case that information has been withheld if it might potentially be used in a prosection  ?

It may be that the diners who were at the restaurant that night,  and saw the tapas group there,   gave very significant evidence,  and that is why it has been withheld   (  as might other information that could be used in a prosection and court case  )

Is that a possibility, do you think  ?

I don't think trumps were kept for eventual prosecution. Actually the general tone of the PGR's final report, given the requested reconstruction didn't occur, doesn't leave much hope about new evidence that would etc.
The Gaspar statements are in the files likely because the Gaspar didn't ask confidentiality. Were these statements turned public when the PJ files were released or before (I don't remember)? I suppose Mr Payne and Mr McCann could have asked confidentiality had they known about these statements.
Did the TP7 or the LC ask for their rogatories interviews not to be in the files ?

What evidence is your thinking based on Anne ?

Some people have complicated lives or are prone to complicate. Friends of mine, still married but living apart, each one with another person, once in a while make a trip together, clandestinely..

Well, OP, now SY have access to all information for the last two years, they will have read everything available, and seeing as they had the right to interview british witnesses from the off as their remit in operation grange, shouldnt be a problem, and who knows, i doubt the Irwins and others there that night have not been spoken to, they mayhavebeen interviewed by the LP originally  who was assisting the PJ from the start, they must have done loads for 3/4 of a million pound and for 5 million pound the SY will have done more than just have 30 people sit and read for two years lol
