I think the trifling amount of donations from any of his family, friends, colleagues or patients, at least any who were willing to put their names them, is very telling. The fact that it was mainly strangers, some of whom merely 'read about it in the Sun' and a whinging 'celeb' whose only connection to Gerry is their censorship agenda says all that needs said about his popularity.

No, I would call £2000 ( without Mr Grant's showboating and with wall to wall publicity) of an expected £4000 in donations 'disappointing'.

I would call anything raised for charity, be it the £25 that my nephew's toddler group raised with their sponsored tricycle ride, or the £7,041.81 that Gerry McCann is totally on - a bloody fantastic achievement.

What type of person is Gerry McCann then?  Do you know him personally?  I don't but, I think his efforts on behalf of this charity are something to be proud of, something to be encouraged and applauded.
