It's a bit like all the time wasted on finding out the source of the photo paper. It could have been clarified so much earlier and with far less work. They could have simply asked, double-checked and crossed it off their list in no time.

Exactly. It was known that night where the source of the photo paper was from. It was ignored because PJAmaral wouldn't or didn't want to believe it.

It would be useful if you could find a reference, Anne, to see the context and the date.
I got the reference, Carana, but tell me first whether the sms were automat sms.

I know. But his mind seems to work in mysterious ways. What did he imagine? That the McCanns had printed out and packed Missing Madeleine posters from home before leaving on holiday with her?

How would I know? Albym tried the number and found out it was a Vodafone voicemail number. Other people on that 3A thread didn't take his word for it and tried it for themselves.

From the bottom of the article you quoted earlier on the appeal court hearing:

No documento é revelado que Gerry recebeu 14 mensagens escritas no dia 2 de Maio e no dia a seguir ao desaparecimento da filha apenas quatro e do mesmo número de telemóvel, que não é identificado.

So it was to be able to listen to the famous 14 on 2 May and 4 on 4 May.

What it says is that the cellphone nb isn't identified.
Unfortunately the Evora Court judgement isn't on line anymore.
I can't believe the automat Vodafone number appeared on the register without any mention of what it was.

The number appears to have changed, but the system still seems similar.

Using my voicemail

When you just can't pick up, Vodafone Voicemail’s there for that all-important message. So when your phone's off or you miss a call, it'll go to voicemail.

To turn it on, just call 1211. You'll get an alert about any new messages, and can just call 121 to listen to them.
We keep new messages that you haven’t listened to for 28 days. When you've listened to a message it will stay in your voicemail for 7 days as an 'old message'. If you need to keep it a bit longer, you can save a message for another 7 days by pressing 7 while listening to it, and you can return a call by just pressing 5.

You can also pick up your voicemails from someone else’s phone or from abroad by calling +447836 121 121 and using your security PIN.

If you need any help with your voicemail, just press 9 when you’re using it to hear the options.

To a foreign operator it may appear like any other mobile Vodafone number.

Its not the Vodafone voice mail number, that was 91121.

Those messages had originated from mobile phone number 4478152####. Full number is on the DVD's.

But they were in Portugal, not at home, i.e. the short mail number wouldn't have worked. Message notifications would have had to have come through a full number.

Why was Vodafone UK relayed by TMN and not by Vodafone PT ?

What exactly are you referring to?

I used the same number I use at home, while in Lisbon last year. Not Vodafone though, never been with that company.

See above a post on Vodafone being UK, TMN etc. supposed to be a kind of mobile telephony for dumb ones.
In an interview to Expresso likely in July 2008, Mr McCann says 1) he disobeyed his lawyer and answered the PJ questions when he was an arguido and 2) nobody asked to see the sms on his cellphone and there's no way they were 16 sms.
