He was asked if the guilty one was sued and said he didn't know... which certainly reveals how seriously they took the threat.

Do you have Micheal Wrights statement Anne?

I do, DCI. But I have first to write down Claudia Nogueira's statement.

From the testimony of Pike and other sources.

'GP asks again "are you a psychologist?"

AP says no.'

----------------------------------------------

'The judge (Maria Emília de Melo e Castro) is now asking
MC - Which strong negative feeling did Kate McCann report to you in the summer of 2009?
AP - She was afraid, she wished she wasn't there; she talked of killing herself as an option.

Kate McCann's mother spoke frankly yesterday about her fears for her daughter's health, saying: "I don't know how long she will hold on for . .. I don't know if any human can take such pressure." She told a Portuguese magazine: 'What mother would not go insane if they lost a child?" But the McCanns' spokesman was forced to deny that Mrs McCann was suicidal after the magazine headlined the article: "Kate's mother fears she will kill herself." Mrs Healy last night denied she ever thought her daughter would commit suicide, saying: "Although Kate is under the most immense pressure, she would never, ever contemplate ending her life, for two reasons. One, she still wants to find Madeleine and, two, for the sake of her other two children."

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-490317/I-dont-know-long-hold-says-Kate-McCanns-anxious-mother.html

So in October 2007, when the pain of Madeleine's disappearance would have been at its most raw, Mrs Healy states categorically that Kate would most definitely NOT EVER contemplate killing herself. Yet Mr Pike has now claimed, UNDER OATH, that 2 years later Kate is actively considering suicide. '

Well,well, well.   >@@(*&)

the thoughts of a traumatised person may vary from hour to hour, day to day week to week ,year to year. I wouldn't expect you to understand as you have no knowledge of psychology. What you are doing is quoting statements out of context

Please keep discussions on track and relevant to the opening post. TY
A malicious prosecution for a crime which never existed. An exposé of egregious malfeasance by public officials.
Indeed, the truth never changes with the passage of time.

Going back to the opening post,  in the Express front page article'  which relates evidence given about Kate's suicidal feelings'  Alan Pike is described as a  'British psychologist'

In court  the lawyer for publishers,  Guerra e Paz,  was very exact in determining what Alan Pike's profession was.  After some waffling about his credentials he ultimately admitted that,  No,   he was  not  a  'psychologist'

Given that this point was raised in court why did the Express report false information regarding Mr Pike and his professional status     ?

In the grand scheme of recent glaring errors made by the press they could probably argue that this is quite a weeny one.

What about what the Mccanns were reporting vis a vis the libel action?

From a SIC interview given 12 May 2009

Q. There's also been Gonçalo Amaral's book and at the time there was a lot of talk about possible legal charges bought up by you against Gonçalo Amaral. Are you still considering these legal charges against him?

Gerry McCann: We certainly haven't ruled it out. The reason we haven't done it to date is we didn't want to create... and I think there's been enough Anglo-Portuguese angst, particularly in the media and we certainly, errr... didn't want to exacerbate that but, you know, he clearly is getting, errr... more outrageous and we certainly wouldn't rule it out.

Kate McCann: At the same time, you know, it... it's a distraction, you know, what Mr Amaral is doing. I mean, it's... it's damaging to our search, errm... but at the same time, you know, we want to find Madeleine. We want to move forward and get new information and we don't want to be derailed by negative people who have their own agendas, you know, so...

Gerry McCann: That is... I mean, that's a very good point, you know; we don't want to look back, we are trying to do things, but it gets to the point, errr... where you just think: 'enough's enough'.

http://joana-morais.blogspot.com/2009/05/mccanns-interview-to-sic.html

So how is Kate Mccann writing in her book Madeleine that conversations with their lawyer had been ongoing since November 2008, Gerry made a trip in January 2009 to see the lawyer about suing Amaral and by April 20 2009 they made the decision to sue!

Why was Gerry Mccann keeping the decision/legal action a secret?

It was just twits (in this instance just one I think) on a forum, who'd doubtless struggle to kidnap a bottle of milk.
I agree Lyall. If the comment about kidnapping one of the twins was ever made then I suspect it was one of those flippant remarks like the one made about the gun at Kate McCann's Marathon run (March 2013). One of those moments when a person thought it would be funny. Not my sense of humour but I have heard similar elsewhere.

After six years and hundreds perhaps thousands of people who believe Madeleine died in Praia da Luz all they could come up with was one dubious comment that could only be misconstrued as a 'death threat' by a very very long stretch of the imagination.

It scared Gerry McCann sufficiently that he notified the police - so a little bit more than a dubious or flippant comment, Jacinta.

Incorrect.

Not out of context at all, but that is your usual excuse.

Are you perchance a psychologist ?

How do you know what Kate Mccann said is the truth ?

After all she is not under oath as a witness in this case

Excellent find Red.

I'm afraid if this pair said it was raining I'd stick my hand out of the window just to check.

As anyone would under the circumstances especially if they didn't know the person behind the comment. Sorry Rachel, I didn't mean to sound so forward.
