I'll believe it when I see it. So many of these stories just fizzle out and it is no coincidence that they are coming out now at the same time as the libel trial.

Really good news that they are involving Portuguese detectives as well. It needs to remain a joint operation. Personally, for the first time in the last five years, I am hopeful of a breakthrough.

It was a joint operation from the very beginning in 2007 and let's not forget that the British were the first to come up with the possibility that Madeleine was dead.

She may well be dead, and I doubt Portuguese detectives didn't consider it a possibility after the first twenty-four hours, exactly as the British would have done.

I think those that believe sy will solve the case and find some scarlet pimpernel abductor are deluding themselves....sy will no doubt wind down the case and issue some kind of statement...then again...the unthnkable might happen....thry may find some evidence against the mccanns or their friends, who knows hey?

I just thought it was funny that article saying they would ask holidaymakers what they were doing there....err, on a holiday inspector plod,can i go now?

It seems that the Met and other British police forces have their share of scandals lately and are hardly blameless when it comes to miscarriages of justice. BTW, which police force has never made a mistake in an investigation? As for the photofit, the PJ did not want to release it the but the McCanns and the British authorities put pressure on them to do it.

wow, 6 out of 71 is good. I would expect to see the US and UK in there and probably the Germans, Australians etc so they are doing well.

I'm not quite sure how the PJ’s Scientific Police Laboratory (SPL) achieved this rank. Hopefully, they'd got more funding by 2009.

It took me a while to realise that the SPL and the INML were different entities. The INML (which was responsible for the Portuguese side of the DNA analyses) seems to be very competent.

Also, why would SY just limit themselves to the abduction theory? Any decent police force would look at all options, even the parents. Leicestershire police stated to the court during the hearing when the McCanns tried to get hold of their files: Although one or both of the parents may be innocent, no evidence has been found which eliminates them from the investigation.

Absolutely. The idea that they haven't looked at the parents yet is ridiculous. They will have looked at the parents before anything else. The reason they're trying to work their way through a list of 40 suspects (probably a list of known sex offenders) and all the phone data is because the parents have already been eliminated.

You really are failing to read and understand. Seriously, that does not surprise me at all.

I stand for justice and truth, not the McCanns per se.  But as it is the McCanns who are not getting justice and truth then it is hardly surprising that I defend them more than Amaral who is very difficult to defend in any way at all as so much has been proven in both court and in his own book about him.

Why the pretense ?

Anyone reading you5r post independently will clearly see you are backing the mccanns.
