This must be one of the worst examples of opportunist journalism in recent times, designed merely to sell newspapers.

The Express newspaper is reckless to print such an unsubstantiated claim when even detectives investigating the case haven't deemed it appropriate to do so.  Have these journalists learned anything from Leveson or is it business as usual, print all the rubbish you want...who cares?

The British Press has shown itself yet again to be totally incapable of self regulation.  Time for change!

A malicious prosecution for a crime which never existed. An exposé of egregious malfeasance by public officials.
Indeed, the truth never changes with the passage of time.

headlines in the tabloids have always been sensational and nothing to do with the actual content....but even when you get to the content it frequently contains a load of crap as well...i doubt anyones gonna change fleet street, they are not a science journal, they have a certain licence though.....which i imagine came originally from a good place like challenging established truths and establishments....the media was born out of a protest against the powers that be we dont really want the powers that be to have any control over it, self regulation is the best way, they have to sort that out...edited

I think the Express no longer take the case seriously John (and Star, but less so). Goodness knows what they thought about Redwood's revelation moment.

Yes indeed, the revelation moment when some guy who just happened to be in Praia da Luz on that fateful night admitted that he might be bundleman.

"Might" being the operative word!

So now we have the BBC and most of the British Press in hysterics because of a notion, a vague recollection and a might be.  Did it ever occur to Redwood to have their mystery man meet Tanner?

The Express claim SY know who the snatcher is, not the Express group themselves.

No to press regulation.
If you want state controlled media then why not move to North Korea or China,
I believe both countries have excellent human rights records.
