Now that the fund objectives are being funded by the UK exchequer, i.e. -

Fund Objectives

The full objects of the Fund are:

To secure the safe return to her family of Madeleine McCann who was abducted in Praia da Luz, Portugal on Thursday 3rd May 2007;

To procure that Madeleine's abduction is thoroughly investigated and that her abductors, as well as those who played or play any part in assisting them, are identified and brought to justice;

And

To provide support, including financial assistance, to Madeleine's family.

If the above objects are fulfilled then the objects of the Foundation shall be to pursue such purposes in similar cases arising in the United Kingdom, Portugal or elsewhere.

No fund cash required for the first 2 objectives now that SY are carrying out the investigation and not private investigators.
Does Madeleine's parents require financial assistance ?

The only justification at this juncture in Madeleine's case could only be to further raise awareness of Madeleine's plight !
Surely there can only be a handful of people in the world who are unaware of this case so why not disband the fund and redirect the remaining monies to other missing cases charities / funds !

I guess if the Met don't come to a final conclusion or closure for Madeleines family...the search will continue.

Should the Met resolve this case then iirc any monies left in the Fund will help other missing children. At a guess I'd say it might be handed to MissingPeople which is a Charity supported by the McCanns.

I would be quite surprised if SY can not bring this case to a conclusion Ben given the resources they have to hand !
I would equally be quite surprised if any future investigation by non state sponsored law agencies could uncover anything that SY failed to find.
This current investigation is very much the last throw of the dice in my opinion.

Idont think the McCanns will ever give up hope..you think logically.

You could be correct- I think the first 48hrs- the most important were basically - not well investigated to put it politely.

I doubt that without concrete evidence either way the McCanns will not give up -I wouldn't either in their shoes.

No parent would Davel -  Kerry Needham has not given up hope after over 20 years.
The notion that innocence prevails over guilt – when there is no evidence to the contrary – is what separates civilization from barbarism.    Unfortunately, there are remains of barbarism among us.    Until very recently, it headed the PJ in Portimão. I hope he was the last one.

I couldn't quite get my head around the fact that the parents missed her "on special occasions, when the whole family should be there" when IMO they would miss her every waking moment of every single day. She wasn't some dodgy fat uncle who would visit twice a year.

I suppose, as Kate stressed on Crime Watch, they did nothing wrong.
