My feelings are that it's probably about the same, however the feelings at each end of the support spectrum have become more extreme.

I was surprised when at work and the news about the crimewatch exclusive broke out of 4 colleagues (all female) 3 of them felt their was something 'fishy' about the couple and the fourth was on the fence. We had never discussed this case before.

That's exactly what my wife said and she is a nurse and is more often than not sympathetic to these things. I was flabbergasted when she said it.  I asked her to please explain what she meant and she said she thought it was all very suspicious.

I think support has dived along with imustpointout's wife. Since crimewatch was broadcast, 12,000 people have joined an anti Mccann facebook site.

Unfortunately I don't have a wife. I have a husband, but I don't really think it's a good idea to encourage him to believe his opinions count by asking him questions... ?{)(**

friends and family and colleagues used to be shocked/angry that anyone would suggest anything other than the official story...these last two years theyve changed their minds...they dont believe them anymore...also theres been a shift in online comments on news articles, alot more negative comments an normal, and NO not just from forum members but general public

a number of my friends have gone from "how can people even suggest there is something fishy with them" to "there's something not quite right with the whole situation".  I think that's going to increase as time moves on.

Exactly the same here....and it had nothng to do with me discussing the case, I stopped doing it years ago with them...I thnk some tide turned when KM wrote her book and it went on from there...for various reasons

Absolutely. It doesn't matter what two investigating police forces say, the campaign against them has planted the seed of doubt very well.

Well done.

This is people who I have never discussed the case with and as far as I know have only every followed the case via the news. So I don't know what campaign you are on about.

People who only hear the news? Are they indeed? Most people I know who only hear the news have largely forgotten and hold the same opinion they held at the time, "OpenMinded"

ok. Since you and me have a different idea of what is open minded, let's explain my view.

Do I think the McCanns were involved in madeleines disappearance. No
Do I think she was abducted. No
Do I think she had an accident. No
Do I think she was drugged. No
Do I think any of the above are possible. Yes

I think most will find that is someone who is open minded. But I'm not here to persuade you or anyone else of anything. I'm here to persuade myself. So on that note I'm off to do some reading.

Not really. Persuade yourself of what?

of what the evidence suggests of course.

I wonder what you'll conclude.
