Pressure.

A certain firm springs to mind. 8)-)))

that's my opinion....threat of libel action ....the threat can only have real meaning if the article was innaccurate

A threat of libel action does not mean libel occurred.

However, CR have a certain reputation.

Well, whatever the truth of what happened, the article got it right.

The Mccanns withheld evidence, which for those who believe in the abduction, is inexcusable.

Isn't it Davel ?

No Stephen, them efits were most definitely not "shut away in a private investigation file for 5 years" as described by Simon Israel on channel 4 news, prior to the Sunday Times article being written & later withdrawn.

And neither were they "never handed over to the Portuguese investigation."

I do so wish that posters would stop pushing this fallacy of "Searching for The Truth."  It is never going to be found on Forums or in Newspaper Articles.

As for  Shrimpton, you need at least two dozen rolls of tin foil for your head for  that  insane nonsensical garbage......
Interesting.

Everybody thinks that ... and IMO that is what we are meant to think.

Michael Shrimpton is an extremely intelligent and articulate man.   He was an associate of Tony Bennett.  IIRC correctly they had similar political views and am I right in recounting that Shrimpton was the Barrister representing Bennett in one of his Court cases ... was it the European road signs one?   Blonk knows Shrimpton is intelligent, don't you Blonk?

Now to the report itself.

I believe that in all probability [and it is only my considered opinion], that The Michael Shrimpton Report was commissioned by the Government.  It was supposed to be totally secret, but somehow it got out.  Certain aspects of that report were embarrassing to the Gov. if they were released to the general public, so the next best thing was that the report had silly bits added to it, so that it became undermined and a laughing stock.

I think that we were all succored into thinking Michael Shrimpton was a loony... and that was the intention.  To save the Gov embarrassment.

No way would Michael Shrimpton have added silly bits about Madeleine and the families thoughts and cuddle cat etc., like were in those later copies.  He was far too concise and intelligent.

Deliberate obfuscation with intent to undermine imo.  To save the Gov embarrassment

Only my opinion.

Tin hat on.

I've never heard of this  'Michael Shrimpton report'

Is it worth a thread of it's own,  so we can discuss it ?

He was on Sonia Poulton's show the other week. The man's an actor, though a very clever one.

He could easily swap places with Tim Marshall on Sky News.

I'd suggest that it's worth a thread of it's own. The "report" is available on the Internet, but (IMO) isn't credible.

It's not compulsory 8)--))

So it's not compulsory to DONATE NOW?  Thank heavens for that.  I thought I might have to be a bit difficult.
