Plea Bargaining is illegal under English Law, but offers are made for lighter sentences.  This is what I believe happened in Kate's case.

I think so too. And it clearly shows the accusation they were suspected all along isn't true.

Thats a good pont

I simply do not understand how anyone could still think that The McCanns are guilty.

Theyve not been proven innocent , not been cleared and no one has found evidence for abduction and no one has been charged with it

But besides that no one is sayng they ARE guilty and its not illegal to THINK they might be!!! Or suspect them

so off high horse etc

Yes.  But Plea Bargaining appears to be illegal in both Portugal and England.  However, we know that a version of it happens in England, so why not something similar in Portugal?

What were all these phones calls that it was so imperative to answer?

The media latched onto the story.

No doubt will be explained away as an error in translation.

Technically, he was explaining the options.

So ? they could have been ignored, though they ( the McCanns)  chose not too.

Plea bargaining exists in England & Wales pre court appearance. Portuguese law does not have plea bargaining.

If one country can mess with The Law against Plea Bargaining so can another.  That is my point.
