That's right. They would hardly be thinking at that level anyway. Too traumatised. Open house it was.

Wrong again, Gerry at least WAS thinking at that level, he was very conscious he said of keeping people out of the kids bedroom

It's in the panorama programme

see from 14 55

Just google panorama mystery of Madeleine McCann

Carana, can you point to cast iron evidence to show where the shutters were seen (not said), but actually physically seen. to be open an independent party ?

Amy Tierney

Date: 2007-05-06

Place: P da L

Occupation: Head of the Baby Club and Mini Club

Place of Work: Ocean Club

She comes to the process as a witness.

She confirms that, on the night of the disappearance she was on duty and immediately went to the bedroom to see if the girl was hiding. She saw that the shutter was raised and that the window was partially open. It was then that she began to look in the wardrobes to see if the girl was hiding.

The first idea that occurred to her was that the girl could have left by her own means, however after checking that the window was open and the shutter raised she asked the parents whether Madeleine's shoes were there, to which they replied that they were, these facts led her to think that Madeleine could have been taken by someone.

The PJ were useless, waste of time, they took no notes or evidence of anything.

The two years of files and paperwork that Scotland Yard has had to trawl through was purely copies of recipes, interesting facts on CSI, and poams, and some naughty stories.

It wasn't long after according to Amy T.

Anyone to do with the tapas group would be disallowed by you sceptics.  Cos you refuse to believe anything stated by them  8)-)))

The main Reception was alerted in the first 15 minutes ... earlier IIRC by someone to do with the Tapas restaurant ... and she came right away.  Seems she was first independant witness on the scene ?

She witnessed the window and shutters open.

Please correct me if Iam remembering incorrectly.

The 'time' wasn't the question being asked Lyall - it was independent confirmation of the open window/shutters that was requested - and provided.

I wouldn't dare correct you, Sadie.

But you know what the problem is. Not only did nobody see the window open before 10pm, but they also seem reluctant to say they saw it open at 10 (or shortly after).

How could they not see it?

That photo was taken in daylight and doesn't appear to reflect anything that could have drawn their attention at dusk (or beyond dusk). It doesn't reflect where they would would have been looking to access the communal entrance and quickly check on their own children, either.

Heri has many interesting photos on this.

I find that photo to be misleading as to the circumstances that evening. She didn't disappear in broad daylight for a start. Why would anyone doing a quick check have that angle of view - between 9-10 pm when they would have been quickly walking towards a central lobby, with hopefully a light to guide them?

They're all valid points but it remains a big question mark, and one of many. There's no escaping the absurdities of the scenario claimed.

Of course after Crimewatch the theory may no longer actually be that the window was open from 9.15 onwards, but that still doesn't explain the apparent reluctance of the crucial witnesses to say they saw it open immediately after the alarm was raised.

Nothing much has really been confirmed or denied by them in all the years since, which does inevitably mean the same questions that were asked at the time are still important.

Jane Tanner would have had sight of the window just a few moments after she encountered bundleman carrying a child.   Remember, we are told that the shutter was fully up, the window fully open and we are also told that the curtains were fully drawn back. The bedroom door was also fully open.

If that was the case there would have been light emanating through that window in what was normally a pitch black background.  There was no floodlight above the apartment in May 2007.  I fail to see how Jane couldn't have noticed that all was not as it should have been especially when she saw that Gerry had left the apartment.
