Was Jeremy jealous of Sheila?
« on: February 15, 2014, 01:43:05 PM »
Was Jeremy jealous of Sheila because she had a life away from the farm and Jeremy didn't want to work on it but felt trapped?
Did he want a life like Sheila's i.e. as he though glamorous and free?
If so, did this make him resentful towards Sheila for having this life and Neville and June for buying her a house (well, flat) in London?
Was it ever established what Jeremy was going to do with WHF had he not been found guilty (as in was he going to sell it along with the other shares in local farms and Osea? After all, he didn't like farming.
In a programme I watched (the great trials and crimes one) it said Jeremy had been charged with the theft of money from the office at Osea-who instigated that and was he ever charged in relation to it? Or was it that that was left because the murders were going to be 'bigger' (charge wise and fine/prison time longer) than the burglary?
Who took over the farm when Jeremy was sent to jail and do they still own it and Osea?

One thing you have to remember is that the Bambers did not own WHF, it was leased. They did own a lot of property and land elsewhere though. I believe the Eatons took over WHF and apparently still live there? And yes, I agree it seems a bit weird that you would want to live in that house knowing its history and being a relative too. I'm not sure though but am certain someone on the forum will know the truth about this.

I imagine he may have felt jealous of Sheila-perhaps he was expected to stay and work on the farm when he had more glamorous ambitions than this. What I do know is that he told the police she was a "nutter". And at a party the weekend before the murders Colin Caffel says Jeremy talked to him and took an unusual interest in Sheila's mental health problems (having never once asked him about it before).

What I'm not convinced of which is often trumpeted on the Blue forum (or it was when I used to read it) is that Jeremy loved farming and he loved his family. I am convinced he loved money though.

Bamber was responsible for the Osea burglary of £980, arrested and questioned over three days (the police taking the opportunity to probe him further about the murders). He then appeared in Chelmsford Magistrates Court on 13th. Sept. 1985 to be formally charged but was immediately released on bail until mid-October. Soon after that earlier appearance he took off to the Continent with Brett Collins, before being re-arrested for the murders when he returned.

The occasion of his court appearance for the burglary saw him concealing his head from view with that white woolly pullover as shown in the video.
It's one of them cases, in'it... one of them f*ckin' cases.

I do think it was all about the money with him, he couldn't get enough. He said the £175 he got in 1985 was a pittance-I got £29 a week in 1988 on a YTS and then £35 in 1989 and went out most nights and clubbing at least once a week on that and I don't think I earned as much as that a week until the late 90's! By which time I lived alone and it didn't go far  @)(++(*

I believe your opening post is correct Joanne, Jerry was jealous of Sheila and her London pad paid for by daddy.  As you know Sheila was a few years older than Jeremy and it was her who introduced him to the London set.

Jeremy was helped to a certain degree by his parents.  The Bambers owned the house in Goldhanger which was occupied by a farm worker and his family.  They had to give the house up for Jeremy when he came to work permanently on the farm.

I think the parents wanted to bring Sheila and the twins back to the village where they could keep an eye on them whilst still allowing Sheila her independence.  That would have meant Jeremy sharing with them of course and that was the final straw.  I think this was what was being discussed by them all the evening before the murders.

Jeremy would have seen this as an assault on everything he had worked for and with the twin boys growing up near the farm he could see his inheritance diminishing each year.  He actively sought out his parents wills to see how he would fare after their death but he would know that they could have changed them at any time.  This was especially so since there was much friction between Jerry and Nevill.  Jerry realised he would lose out in the long run if he didn't do something.

"Tonights the night", he told Julie Mugford on the phone just hours before the family were murdered.

A malicious prosecution for a crime which never existed. An exposé of egregious malfeasance by public officials.
Indeed, the truth never changes with the passage of time.

White House Farm wasn't owned by Nevile, he merely rented it.  As you have stated, he owned other farms and had a share of the caravan park.  Had Jeremy been cleared he could have sold the lot and flown back to New Zealand.

Jeremy was charged with the robbery at Osea Caravan Park but after the murders.  Don't know what happened in the end though.

The lease of White House Farm was taken over by Peter and Ann Eaton who still reside there as tenant farmers.

There's no question that Bamber resented Sheila and, sadly, the boys. He had absolutely no interest in farming ( it's laughable when he bleats on his little website that, when he's released, he'll buy a small farm. What will he cultivate? Angry pensioners, porn addicts and idiots?). He'd found the wills and read them, (and was horrified), for the first time EVER he'd asked when Sheila and the boys would be staying at the farm, and he'd broken into the caravan site and stolen the money. I could go on, discussing the other crimes that he committed, leaving the farm at harvest which no self-respecting farmer would do.....I could also discuss his disgraceful behaviour before, during and after the funerals. And the fact that he didn't attend the memorial service, when almost the entire village did.

But, of course, he was busy. Trying to sell pictures of his sister. When he wasn't piling antiques into the back of his gay pal's truck, like some sort of two-bit Lovejoy.

What was it that he said, again? "I won't share the money with my sister."
Jeremy Bamber kicked Mike Tesko in the fanny.

Just my opinion of course but Jeremy Bamber is innocent and a couple from UK, unknown to T9, abducted Madeleine McCann - motive unknown.  Was J J murdered as a result of identifying as a goth?

On a serious note...

I doubt very much if Jeremy, or anyone else for that matter, was jealous of Sheila.  She was after all suffering from a serious mental illness which according to Dr Ferguson was only ever likely to get worse.

Only weeks prior to the tragedy SC had been an in-patient at St Andrews psychiatric hospital in Northampton.

I have not seen any evidence that SC had an enviable lifestyle living in London.  She was not a Middleton sister or anything remotely like.

She lived in a two bed flat in Maida Vale purchased by her parents.  Apart from that she seemed to struggle financially.  With no qualifications, job experience or confidence she was forced into taking up low paid work by waitressing and pornographic modelling which by all accounts she hated  8(8-))

..."a bit weird"...being the operative words.  Most house of horrors are knocked down and turned into a memorial garden or the like.  I guess for two reasons: out of respect for the victims and no one would want to live there for obvious reasons.  The fact June's niece took up residence there to my mind is macabre  >@@(*&)  I think of other 'houses of horror': College Close, Cromwell Street, Dunblane Gym to name but a few all of which were demolished.  I have read (don't know how reliable it is) that Anne Eaton's children suffered nightmares by living there  8(8-))

Blame it on the era: Mrs T, fill ya boots, yuppies, champagne Charlies etc.

A lot of bankers are greedy and egotistical.  Notably those that bought major banks down by recklessness and greed.  In the UK: Fred Goodwin (RBS) Adam Applegarth (Northern Rock) Andy Hornby (HBOS) to name but a few but I doubt they have ever been capable of violence.

Lots of people suffer financial hardship all the time but few kill their family except Christopher Foster that I can name off the top of my head as well as Jeremy Bamber, if you believe him guilty.
Even if Jeremy Bamber had to share the inheritance with Sheila and the twins, the equivalent in today's money of a million pounds, that was still a lot of money (to me) to have gained for essentially nothing as well as his house which I don't know how much that'd be worth either then or now.

Christopher Foster murdered his family and then topped himself.

I don't think Jeremy suffered financial hardship.  He had a nice lifestyle.  When he was interviewed by the police he calculated his total package eg accommodation, car, free petrol, shares/dividend from OCP etc and it was well in excess of 20k.  The average household income TODAY is 26k.

I think we know Jeremy wasn't hard up, and even if he had shared his parents' inheritance with Sheila and her sons he would also have been very well off. The fact is he felt this wasn't enough. Greed was the primary motive for his crime. And greed is why he won't confess to the murders because he doesn't want to get out of jail penniless.

I agree Goatboy although if it were me I'd sooner be penniless than in jail, Oh I am!!
