She noticed that the door to her children's bedroom was completely open, the window was also open, the shutters raised and the curtains open, while she was certain of having closed them all as she always did.
6th of September
The window in Madeleine's room remained closed, but she doesn't know if it was locked, blinds and curtains drawn. The window remained like this since the first day, night and day. She never opened it. If somebody saw the window blinds in Madeleine's room open, it was not Kate who opened them, she never saw them open.
You can't close a window that remained closed since the first day, night and day, can you ?

GA got this bit wrong. KM's prints were not "in a position of opening the window".
Her 5 prints were actually all on the glass.
Amaral and his break-in expert mistakenly used a photo of a GNR print from the edge of the lounge sliding door (thats how they get "in a position of opening") and treated it as KM's on the bedroom window.
KM is 100% innocent IMO she genuinely found the window already open and leaned on it exactly as she says.
JT likewise, 100% innocent, genuinely passed the chat and saw innocentman carrying his 2yr-old IMO.

Observations: The fingerprint traces collected are identified as being the middle finger of the left hand (3x) and forefinger of the left hand (2x), of the missing girl’s mother,
 The fingerprint inspection was only carried out on the inside of the window because it was night time, the location was sealed and preserved so that light conditions would permit the inspection of the residence to be finalised.

I must say, I find this thread confusing.   We know that the window was dusted by the Portuguese equivalent of a SOCO in daylight so do we know if any identifiable fingerprints were actually collected from the outside?

I have yet to find anything to indicate anything other than what Kate said. Where does this allegation that her fingerprints indicated that she'd opened it come from aside from Amaral? I haven't found anything in the files. He'd also stated in an interview that the cleaning lady had cleaned the window the day before, but that isn't in the files either.

Kate touched the window, yes, well, with two fingers of her left hand. And...? What is inconsistent with a desperate mother touching an open window while peering out to see if her child could be out there somewhere?

The whole point is that those are NOT kates prints... Kates are on the glass on the inside according to the files...so whose are those prints

Nowhere does KM say she never touched the window.
Yes she states she never opened it.
In her book she says IIRC that during the final check, having found the window already opened by someone else, she leaned on the already open window to look out.
