When the SY investigation is complete it will end...as long as the Portuguese obstruct...it will continue...maddie deserves the proper investigation that the PJ did not carry out

Yep, find her & give her a proper burial, which her parents chose not to.

For how many years will this farce continue, when nothing has been found ?

Where else Mr. Jones could this money be spent more wisely ???
So you STILL won't tell me where the line should have been drawn in your opinion, fair enough.  Difficult question I guess...

It is now being suggested in some Portuguese media reports that the latest developments in Praia da Luz are politically driven and are basically a compete waste of time and money.

Is there a point where a line has to be drawn?

How much is too much when it comes to searching for a missing child?

This is a new thread.
A malicious prosecution for a crime which never existed. An exposé of egregious malfeasance by public officials.
Indeed, the truth never changes with the passage of time.

I haven't yet read the entire thread, and so in reply to your OP...

First question:
- Which new developments are you referring to?

Where else could money be spent more wisely?  How about only investigating crimes where it's a dead cert a positive result will be achieved hence achieving value for money?  Forget about spending too much on investigating any crime that looks took complex and time-consuming to solve.  Would that be better?

You have mentioned many times your REAL reason for this search for Madeleine to be halted Stephen.  Which is the fact that the McCann's left the children alone.    It has nothing to do with how much is being spent,  it is just your idea that the McCann's don't deserve it   Isn't it?

I think we should get a little perspective on things here.

Madeleine McCann's case was archived in 2008.  There was no official search or investigation continuing on her behalf.

Only her parents were looking for her.

The financing for this was borne by the Madeleine Fund ~ the source of which was public subscription, the sale of wristbands etc: and the damages received from the media by the Drs McCann and the tapas seven when they had been shamefully defamed.

Due only to the Dr McCanns' unfailing persistence on Madeleine's behalf the official inquiry into her disappearance was re-opened at the end of last year.

Suddenly ~ the same people who have persistently and insidiously criticised the fund set up to look for her ~ have discovered how expensive such a search actually is and are criticising that expenditure.

They can't have it both ways.

It certainly would not be acceptable to run a campaign to ignore the plight of a missing child.  IMO running a campaign about the costs involved in finding her amounts to exactly the same thing.
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

Well said Brietta    8((()*/

What ever happens it will be wrong the McCann's can do no right.

When the enquiry into Madeleine disappearance was first taken up by SY   a huge cheer went up from the Anti McCann side.    'Now we will find our what REALLY happened'   they said,   'SY will find out the truth'   'the MCann's will soon be arrested'   'I have faith in Andy Redwood'.

Now,   when SY have said that the McCann's are not suspects,   they want the investigation to end,  funny that.

If it was the other way around and they were spending millions getting evidence to take the McCann's to court they would be jubilant.

The requests to undertake geo-radar surveys and possible excavations.

Thanks for the reply.

What is your objection?

- What's the objection?

Wouldn't these searches potentially help to clarify what had actually happened to her, whoever may be responsible?

I know very liitle about the McCann case but the resources invested in the case along with media coverage appear to be at odds with the 200 missing Nigerian schoolgirls  8-)(--)

The McCanns were given hours of primetime news coverage, an audience with the Pope, use of private learjet (Philip Green), significant donations, appeals by David Beckham and Christiano Ronaldo etc.  What have the families of the Nigerian schoolgirls received?

The parents of the schoolgirls sent them to a place of safety ie school.  The McCanns put their children at risk by leaving them unsupervised.

It appears one white cute looking Western child photographed in fashionable Western clothing is valued more highly than 200 Nigerian schoolgirls dressed very conservatively and perhaps looking rather drab by Western standards?

Although I accept the cases are somewhat different it just strikes me that there's an interesting contrast here?

Just my opinion of course but Jeremy Bamber is innocent and a couple from UK, unknown to T9, abducted Madeleine McCann - motive unknown.  Was J J murdered as a result of identifying as a goth?

Sorry but there is absolutely no comparison between the two.

You only need to make a comparison with the Ben Needham case.  Ben's mum has been tireless in her physical search for her son yet has to literally scrape and beg for any help from our lousy Government.  Bloody disgraceful imo.

I agree Carana,  if I was a parent living in Portugal,  I would want to know if some pervert had taken a child,  and I would want this person caught.

Cast your mind back to 2011. The then head of The Met thought the McCann case was not within the scope of The Met. His boss the Home Secretary of the UK agreed with him. As a result of an open letter in The Sun the Prime Minister overruled his Home Secretary and in the time honoured fashion of shit rolling downwards it ended up on The Met's plate afterall. That would seem to be political interference which if you recall caused a bit of stir at the time.
As the "project" is being funded

all in your humble opinion of course
