Why is Goncalo Amaral stalling?
« on: June 16, 2014, 07:47:25 PM »
The situation is simple.

Goncalo Amaral, we are told, is desperately short of money.

We are also told his money (a very substantial sum) is not available to him till this case is settled.

And his supporters are constantly re-iterating that he believes his case is strong.

Yet he is the one stalling and causing more expense for himself with the instruction of yet another lawyer.

Why?

I can only offer three possible suggestions as to why he has deliberately once again delayed the judgement in this case.

1) Perhaps he has not been paying attention to his lawyer's actions and only at literally the last moment has realised that his lawyer is incompetent and therefore has to be fired. In that case he is a fool who should have been paying attention as the delay is damaging him as much as anyone else (if he believes he will win that is).

2) Perhaps he actually knows he has lost the case and is simply dragging out the inevitable judgement against him. If so he is not only wasting court time, media time and the McCanns' time but also his own time. That would be totally stupid because the sooner an adverse judgement is made, the sooner he can start rebuilding his life.

3) Maybe he really does believe he will win the case but is enjoying the thrill of making the McCanns suffer more with every one of these cynical delays. If that is the case then he is a very sick and nasty individual.

I cannot work out which of the above might be the true reason.

Do other people have any opinions or possibly other suggestions as for the reason for this delay?

Or an item 5 - he has completely lost the plot and is suffering some sort of breakdown?

eta: his latest berserk theory regarding what he thinks the McCanns did with Madeleine's body suggests he's gone a bit loopy.

I think he might be hoping that Madeleine's body will be found, or proof of her death in PdL on that night.  He might then think that he will have been proved right in his hypothesis, but was prevented from following it through.

Proof of who is responsible, would be another thing altogether, as at least he would be half way there.

Much as it pains me I think you may be correct and he may be mentally buckling under the constant pressure he has had to endure for the last seven years.

Not likely.

Amaral has stood his ground through God knows how many attempts to silence him.

He's hardly likely to fold like a wet tissue now, when the whole world is waking up to the truth about the McCanns and their priorities.

Oh Kate, kate, kate - you should've kept your MOUTH SHUT on those steps.

Can someone tell me what THIS has to do with "searching" for Madeleine?

Kate McCann: Can I... can I just add, I mean, I think we need to make it clear to people we... we took on this case because of the pain and stress that Mr Amaral has brought to us and our children. And every time he postpones the case, like this, it brings us more pain and distress, Every time we come here we have to make arrangements for our children to be looked after, we have to book flights, we have to book hotels, we have to take time off work to come here. Now Mr Amaral handed that letter in, apparently, around 9 o'clock this morning. That letter could have been handed in before we left the country and this has happened now about four times, as Gerry said this can't be seen as anything but blatant and cynical. We just want justice. This is not fair.

She didn't say Madeleine's name ONCE in that diatribe.  Not once.

I hope you are right truth but even the strongest among us can only endure a certain amount of pressure before they break.

Amaral has seen his job, his marriage and his reputation sacrificed to the vindictiveness and greed of the McCanns. Who would blame him if he was starting to crumble under the pressure ?

Truly unbelievable.

Let's not forget the INCONVENIENCE of the whole thing.  Having to get babysitters for Gods sake, how SHOCKING.

Forgive me, but wasn't Amaral forced to cancel many family plans when he was looking for their daughter?

Including a much longed for holiday?

How could he afford a holiday?  He was up to his eyeballs in debt.  I should have thought he would have welcomed the overtime.
