No, I would not expect them to feel relaxed. I know how precious time is when you have a family, when you have a career. I would be livid if this disgraceful specimen of Portuguese manhood deliberately played this game with my time.

You don't understand why somebody gets annoyed when somebody [...edited...] completely and deliberately wastes two or more days of your time and cannot be bothered to give a reason for that deliberate wasting of your time. Not to mention the court's time, the lawyer's time, the other defendants' time etc.

I really do feel sorry for you if you are not even able to empathise in a situation as blindingly obvious as that one from yesterday morning.

Can I point you to the thread about those '4 postponements' gilet ?

What I don't understand is why the McCanns were furious yesterday  ...   they were both fuming !  ( especially Kate, it appeared to me  )

I mean, if you are all right and the reason Amaral pulled that stunt is because he is  'running scared'  then you'd expect Kate and Gerry to have appeared  relaxed and quietly pleased, wouldn't you  ?

A three week postponement is nothing, afterall,  and the inconvenience of getting to Portugal pales into insignificance when measured against the  (  according to some here  )  capitulation of their nemesis as indicated by his  'no-show'

So why were they so enraged   ?

Also it makes no difference to the case as the rulings by the Judge are already in hand and will be discussed now on 8th July. The only difference is Amaral will have a new lawyer to hand in his defence. Now that is the difference, perhaps he wasnt happen in the way his lawyer was going to deal with that.

Furious McCanns poor McCanns, its makes me laugh all this fuss over child care, hey ho, now if they had done that on the 3rd May they would not be suing anyone and poor Madeleine would be at home.

They have really done it now though.  There behavior especially KMC outside that courtroom has opened up a can of worms.

People are now reading things that havent been in media, like keys to churches, and kids left for 3 hours at night alone.

Yes obviously they would have been a tad fed up but they should have gone home and kept quiet. Its not like they cant afford the flights or a one night stay in a hotel. Hell I could afford to do that lol.

No they made a huge mistake.

You're sure I'm right that you and your fellow doubters are obsessives about "Justice For Maddie" despite the fact that she is not your child, and none of you has any claim over her whatsoever?  Well, good at least we can agree on something!

I believe in justice per se.

In this case the recipient of that justice just happens to be Madeleine.

As I said on another thread and as another poster has said on here; if what Amaral did was within the rules then it is OK whether we like it or not. Using your "ace" analogy if Amaral's actions caused the trumping of a McCann court card then the McCanns should have counted the cards better.

As I have said before...if you accept that argument then..

McCANNS not answering questions
leaving Portugal
not returning for recon...

all perfectly OK

same with me  maddie   was a child  kate and  gerry   are  two adults who knew  right  from wrong and still  at least neglected them  by leaving them alone  when it is illegal to leave children under  12  alone in most  countries

As for the McCanns stating that the libel trial has been going on for 5 years, they seem to forget that the book ban was a separate trial. The book ban was made in September 2009 and was finally lifted in October 2010, a little more than a year later. Later, the McCanns appeal to the Supreme Court was rejected in January 2011. The question of the book ban was settled then.

The trial for damages in the civil court began on 12 September 2013 and it is now June 2014. Where are the 5 years for this case? Have I lived in a parallel universe? The only serious delay was when the parents asked for a postponement in order to obtain an out of court settlement.

How long did it take to get to court. Is it 5 years since they went into litigation mode over this issue?

Only a disingenuous berk would see these court cases as completely unlinked.  A reasonable person would see that they are all part and parcel of the same action, which is to correct the grave injustice done to Madeleine McCann and her parents by an ex-cop who cashed in on her disappearance.  It has taken 5 years so far in the quest for justice, hopefully not another 5 years until Amaral has the bottle to see the case through to the end.

The libel action started in 2009 with the ex parte action to (a) remove the book from sale to limit further damage and (b) ringfence the proceeds of the book pending the result of the libel action.

Please then, let us know exactly which delays there were and how were the McCanns inconvenienced?

First delay to the libel trial itself was on the 8th September 2012

The Libel action between the McCanns and Amaral can be traced back and documented to 9 September 2009.  That is the date of the first court documents.

Oh My, Nearly five years.  The fact that The Portuguese Judicial System has been pissing about since then is only aggravated by Amaral himself.

Certainly  whatever happened to Madeleine McCann should not have happened but given the level of lawlessness which we now know was happening in the environs of Praia Da Luz it was only a matter of time until it happened to some other little girl either by accident or design.

Why not try to stick to the topic of the thread and discuss why Dr Amaral seems to be so desperate to spin this trial out for as long as possible.

Obviously there have been times when delays were not entirely due to him as on the occasion when his lawyer refused to continue until he was paid what was owing.

In my opinion if he was sure of his position he would not have used the bizarre ploy of dismissing his lawyer at the eleventh hour when all that remained were the closing statements.

So I think he is putting off the inevitable.

I think he knows the libel case has been won by the Drs McCann.

When that happens I think a closer look will be taken at the man and his works and I think he is worried about that scrutiny.

"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

As for stalling tactics, how about Isabel Duarte taking months to return the books, after the appeals court decision, to the publisher. She had to be forced by the court.
