You don't quite seem to have grasped the fundamentals.

Eddie alerted to spots of Gerry's blood on the ignition key (which was reacted to by both Eddie and Keela, the reason it was sent to the FSS).

Keela alerted to the boot.

Eddie didn't.

A mix from the boot was sent to the FSS.

So either the mix from the boot contained a component of blood (in which case, both dogs should have reacted to it).

Or the mix from the boot didn't contain a component of blood.

(In which case, neither dog should have reacted).

Eddie was never in the hire car thus why he never detected odour from the carpet in the rear luggage space.

This I agree with. On the balance of probabilities I would suggest it is more likely that there was cadaver odour at the apartment then there was not. Indeed if you were to lay a bet on this, this is where the smart money would be imo... though of course I take your point that the odour just may not have been there and even Kate claims she was in contact with cadavers prior to the holiday.. On a slightly different note I've been trying to read up on cadaver dogs and there is not an awful lot of info to be found... I'm sure Grimes States that the dogs would not alert to a bacon sandwich for instance which seems surprising as they often trained using dead pig...

There is a distinct difference between decaying pig meat and cooked fresh pig meat.  Eddie never reacted to the latter.

Hmmm what about the pork that Grime soaked in petrol and set alight.  Eddie alerted to the burnt remains.  Would that qualify as alerting to cooked fresh pigmeat?     From memory so am happy to be corrected if necessary
The notion that innocence prevails over guilt – when there is no evidence to the contrary – is what separates civilization from barbarism.    Unfortunately, there are remains of barbarism among us.    Until very recently, it headed the PJ in Portimão. I hope he was the last one.

Eddie was never in the hire car thus why he never detected odour from the carpet in the rear luggage space.

Eddie was, however, directed to the rear of the car and squatted several seconds underneath the boot, before getting up and wandering off without barking, only to be called back again by Grime.

Eddie didn't sniff the boot seal. He tried to go under the boot. SY should be examining those hairs (9) for a DNA match. Blood 15 alleles (10).

Smithman carrying a child in his arms checked his watch after passing the Smith family and the time was 10:03. Both are still unidentified 10 years later.
