According to the Independent the dossier was handed to The Yard on September 9th (it doesn't mention the year though!). So why wait to publicise it now one might ask.

They have been gathering disgusting posts, I expect.  Before they are whooshed by frightened punters.

I am annoyed with myself that I haven't done anything pro active about the despicable posts that we all have seen.


Personally, I hope that anyone threatening ANYONE is prosecuted and receives appropriate punishment.

And anyone telling lies, twisting facts and spreading myths and malicious propaganda gets a severe warning from the Police.  If they repeat the behaviour after that, then they should be prosecuted.

I'm pleased to say I did do something Sadie, and have been for Seven years. I hope the Facebook trolls get the same treatment as the Twitter trolls.

We pride ourselves here that our members for the most part can have mature discussions about the disappearance of Madeleine McCann without resorting to the type of abuse seen on other sites including facebook and twitter.

There is no proof even now to support one theory over another.

SY have said the McCanns are not suspects.

So, SY have some proof they were in no way involved in Madeleine's disappearance.

All they need to do is...... tell us what it is...then the McCanns can live in peace.

Until then, changes in witness testimony, the Smith's sighting (beige trousers strewn across the bed, Kate not telling the truth about pyjama sleeves), not phoning the police, blaming Portuguese paedophile gangs, the bedroom door which kept moving, not returning for a reconstruction, amongst other things, all point toward them being not particularly innocent.

It's their own fault, & SY's for that matter, if they get trolled.

Sympathy Nil.

Sky News are noticeably reluctant to report why the McCanns are getting trolled, other than leaving the children alone.

It was correctly pointed out on another thread (posts since incorporated here) that there have been instances of abuse from both sides. I fear this is a much wider problem which is not unique to the McCanns.  The government has summarily failed to tackle this problem and as we saw on a Channel 4 documentary last night, it is being left to private individuals (vigilantes) to police the internet for abusers.

The vast majority of "doubters" are keyboard warriors, hiding behind internet names.  Therefore any abuse or death threats are directed towards an anoymous username.  As far as I am aware, making threats towards a username  is not illegal.

The problem is that these people have been making threats towards the McCanns and their children - specific individuals.  Unacceptable and they deserve to be identified and dealt with.  Do you agree?

Threats are unacceptable and need to be dealt with.
