Zero tolerance should be applied to all forms of abuse and I for one have no problem about reporting serious instances to the appropriate authorities but I must question why this dossier was also sent to all the media outlets.  In my opinion this cheapened the entire exercise in that it was obvious that the need to get one over on the 'opposition' was deemed more important than justice.

Had this abuser identified by Martin Brunt in his special report been given an official warning, charged or prosecuted then that was the time to release information to the press.  As an aside, I find Martin Brunt to be a bit of a hypocrite since it was not so many years ago that he too pointed an accusing finger at the McCanns. Oh the shame of it all!!!!

Thank you for mirroring my comments made earlier.

Much whining about "[ censored word]" being abused too, and "Dr" Amaral apparently receiving threats from evil [ censored word ].  And a poster on here apparently compiling a "dossier" of abused [ censored word]?  Good grief.

But there is one thing which separates the two.  The McCann family were true victims in this, and cannot simply walk away.  Madeleine is still missing.  And they are easy targets for anyone who sees it as their right to heap abuse.

ALL of the rest are involved in this case voluntarily - and if they dont like it, can simply walk away.  Stephen can complie as many dossiers of poor victims of abuse as he likes - the answer will be the same - you dont like it? - step away from the computer.

And bleating about "wot about my rights to free speech" won't wash I'm afraid - you want to have the right to dish it out?  Then expect to have to take it too.

A brief reminder.

If not for the mccans and their 'responsible parenting skills', none of us would be here.

The McCann's have used the media mercilessly and Angelo hit the nail on the head yesterday as regards the release of the McCann supporters dossier.

Madeleine is the victim of her parents neglect, FACT.

Abuse and threats wherever they originate are not acceptable.

P.S.  It's not just one person collecting a 'dossier' of abuse, and it's not just a dossier

Seems visitors to the website that hosts the PJ files have risen from 20,000 to 75,000 since trollgate !

It looks to me like it's not the actions of the sceptics that are harming the McCanns but their own supporters !

If it was not for the child snatchers and child abusers who prey for the innocent children and who are left unpunished in Portugal no one would be here.

We should make a world where children can freely walk on the street like I did and my parents did. Where children can freely sleep in their beds in unlocked houses like I did and my parents did.

Those who don't allow this should be targeted by law and should be punished by law in worst possible ways.

You don't know who removed Madeleine from the apartment.

Unknown crime.

No one has been charged.

YET.

I do not concern myself with how the Mccann's live their lives, but obviously they have perceived threats made towards themselves and their children from a handful of nasty cowards to be very real. Can anyone say then, what preventative measures have the Mccann's put in place to safeguard the security of their family?

If through necessity one has had to install a security system to protect one’s home – one’s person and most importantly one’s children; it doesn’t appear to be a sensible move to give details of it on the internet or to any passing stranger.

Rather negates the purpose don’t you think?

I have no doubt that given the nature of the threats directed at the person of the Drs McCann consideration must also be given by the authorities to scheduled public appearances.

Just as when advice was taken on at least one occasion to cancel a book signing because of promised disruption arranged on-line and when threats to shoot Dr McCann while she was running in the London Marathon were taken very seriously indeed.

Why are there people who feel "entitled" to do this?

I understand a few twitter accounts have vanished and FB pages ammended.

The trolls are demonstrating that they do not understand they have left footprints all over the internet; and if their 'names' are in the dossier and their offences have been considered to be serious enough they may very well be contacted by the police.

If Sky News could track 'tweetyface' should be easy enough for law enforcement to do the same with the others.

I've also heard STM have had a bit of a spring clean and as the dossier discloser is a member there the timing does seem rather fortuitous.

Isn't it touching how some people who, after years and years of making posts online about how the McCanns dunnit, having bitched about and ripped to shreds everything about this couple and their family, and having made scathing comments about (for example) how ugly Gerry is and about how the McCanns have almost certainly split up, suddenly start caring about the psychological welfare of their 'remaining' children.  There's a word for this - it's called hypocrisy and it stinks.

Perhaps the dossier was sent to the MSM to ensure that the police would carry out the proper diligence.

It is my opinion they have singularly failed in this respect for far too long.

The trolling and abuse suffered by the McCann family has been allowed to continue with very little interference from the police for over seven years.
I believe that is seven years too long.

Perhaps if a Zero Tolerance Policy had been adopted right at the start the situation would not be at the stage it is now with people mistakenly believing they “are entitled”; and just as a public letter was required from Madeleine's parents to get the current investigation off the ground, perhaps the members of the public who submitted the dossier are ensuring it isn't filed and forgotten about.

http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/Madeleine-McCann-Accused-Twitter-troll-Brenda/story-23040155-detail/story.html

Neighbours not amused by her actions, it seems.

The Mercury visited Burton Overy yesterday, but on discovering Ms Leyland was not at home was told by a neighbour that she had “fled the village”.

The resident, who would rather not be named said: “Somebody took a photo of her on Thursday afternoon and then she was gone.

“I haven’t seen her since.”

Accusations of Ms Leyland being involved with the internet attacks appears to have shocked many residents in Burton Overy, a small, idyllic village in south-east Leicestershire.

One resident said: “I was totally surprised.

“But while I wouldn’t condone what Brenda is accused of doing, I am worried for her safety now she has apparently fled the village.”

A fellow villager said: “We all have opinions on things but they should be kept to yourself.”

Another person said: “I find it quite sad that people sit in their house all day just tweeting about stuff.

“I don’t think what these people have done is nice at all, I think it’s horrible!

Isn't it interesting that although some individuals have for years professed to care for the welfare, both physical and psychological, of the McCann twins, when a chance is presented to point score against those they see as the enemy all thought of their emotional well being is thrown to the fore winds in favour of giving the opposition ' a good kicking' !! They are the worst kind of dissimulator !
