Come on Stephen.  This is twitter - a bunch of anonymous idiots shouting abuse at each other across the ether.  Nobody knows who is who or why.  You seem to want to play a game of "your twitter troll is worse than my twitter troll".  Anyone who engages on twitter needs to be familiar with the principle of Volenti non fit iniuria.

"Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage
And then is heard no more: it is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
 Signifying nothing.

That's Twitter, to Twits.

Pull the other one.

You and others are quite prepared to deal with offenders from the other side of the fence.

As to the Shakespeare quote, irrelevant in this context, unless diversion is your tactic.

All of whom have elected to be there and can close their account and go away if it all gets too much for them.

The McCanns do not have that option.
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

So your argument is what, exactly?

A question for the supporters.

Do you believe legitimate questions tweeted about the McCann case constitutes abuse ?

First you need to define "legitimate"

Okay, being in compliance with the law.

The. McCanns and their supporters may feel that someone tweeting that there is no independent witnesses to Gerry's presence at the tapas just before the alarm was raised is harassment but it is a legitimate statement and within the law. But would you, as a supporter, consider it so ?

One statement to that effect may be within the law but continually posting messages that question the McCanns honesty may amount to harassment. It would be up the police to refer to the CPS and then a court would decide the legality. It is not up to posters on here to decide themselves what is legitimate. Brenda Leyland felt what she was doing was legitimate....the law may have felt different.

Well said.  Sceptics like to ask their questions, repeatedly and often , and many times these are interspersed with comments of a hateful and personal nature about the McCanns' appearance, state of their marriage, characters etc.  They tend to forget all the hateful crap when they say all innocent-like "we're only asking questions", like butter wouldn't melt.

How may times can you ask the same question, once a day? ... forty times a week? ... before people begin to question your sanity?

Must be a real problem with people who have been doing it for seven years.

You have to wonder why supporters, if the McCanns have really been cleared of guilt, are still here ?

Why do they still feel the need to stalk and intimidate people who do not believe the parents ?

Why the need to defend when, we are told, the McCann's innocence is self--evident ?

You missed out the bit about how "SY" agree with the supporters.

Some people really would prefer their online campaign of abuse against the parents of a missing child to go unchallenged.
