Troll is being wrongly defined as criminal when that is completely false.  Trolls can most certainly be mischievous, devious, playful and bloody downright annoying but they are here to stay.  Abusers are something else and can be found everywhere.

Is Kate McCann an abuser by publishing the comment "f..k1ng tosser... f..k1ng tosser" towards a Portuguese policeman?
No she is not.  She wrote a book in which she admitted that these were the words she was muttering under her breath when being questioned by him.  It was a factual record of how she felt towards him at the time, and doesn't necessarily reflect well on her, understandable though her frustration may well have been.  That is not the same as, for instance, tweeting "Paiva is a f..king tosser" 50 times a day for seven years.  I'm sure you can see the difference.

Such a pity about Paiva's little foray into The Internet World of self promotion.  I mean, really.  Karma, was it?

No it seems it was a 'sting' by a supporter.

The question as always is why ?

Oh, I see.  Someone stung him into it, did they?  It's bound to be the fault of The McCanns.

No not at all. This time it was the fault of one of their misguided supporters.

Of course it's not Paiva's fault, he had no control over his actions, poor bloke.

Goodness me.  The McCann Supporters are now responsible for depraved acts by The PJ.

Oooer 127,850 tweets now there's a target. Who did that I wonder? Even our top posters are well off the pace.

An average of 55 tweets per day for the last 70-ish months.  The vast majority on the #McCann tag.  Read it and weep.  https://twitter.com/JillyCL

This troll knocks the last one into a cocked hat, averaging close to 100 tweets a day 24/7 re: the McCanns and has done so for the last 40-odd months.  Odd being the operative word.  https://twitter.com/RothleyPillow

Verily I am desolated that Alfred still has me on ignore and replies to my posts by proxy. I must have hurt his feelings.
None the less all those trolls at 50 plus "messages" per day make our trolls look pretty small beer at 12 or less.
Be thankful for small mercies, merciful heavens  8(>((

You`d think examples would have been made by using existing laws to prosecute individuals at some time over the last 7 years...........especially when threats to kidnap and  waterboard have been mentioned.

You`d have thought someone would have done time.........6 months as a deterrent to the rest if laws were being broken?

"Under the current law, people who subject their victims to sexually offensive, verbally abusive or threatening material on the internet can only be prosecuted in magistrates' courts under the Malicious Communications Act, which carries a maximum prison sentence of six months. "

I don’t think it is as easy as all that … it can be difficult to get the police to take action.

Nicola Brookes became a victim after posting a message of support for an X Factor contestant … can you believe that?

The Daily Mail link gives details … and in the Sky link she articulates the effects these people have on the lives of their victims.

"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

You'd have thought so wouldn't you?  Do you think the troll example I've highlighted should have been?
