Police have taken action and prosecutions have been brought recently in respect of abusive twitter threats.

You`d have thought that kidnap and waterboarding  threateners would have been similarly prosecuted........

No she is not.  She wrote a book in which she admitted that these were the words she was muttering under her breath when being questioned by him.  It was a factual record of how she felt towards him at the time, and doesn't necessarily reflect well on her, understandable though her frustration may well have been.  That is not the same as, for instance, tweeting "Paiva is a f..king tosser" 50 times a day for seven years.  I'm sure you can see the difference.

I don't see the difference at all.  If McCann said it to herself as she claimed there was no need whatsoever to publish it. It goes without saying that Kate McCann was attempting to make a point at any price and that price includes the comments she gets back.  As someone posted recently, if you publish abuse expect to get it back.

The problem with the McCanns is that they think they are untouchable. You wouldn't get Kerry Needham behaving in such an unrefined manner.

you can really see no difference between Kate's comment in a book, written to describe her real, actual frustration at a police officer (who was basically accusing her of hiding her own child's body) and an internet troll who tweets 100 posts a day accusing the McCanns of being paedos, child killers and god knows what else?  Jesus, that's depressing.

the doubters show just how unfair their judgement is when they compare Kate saying f****** T******r once to 50 to 100 tweets a day

So which Internet troll was that?

You can move the goalposts as much as you like but abuse is abuse.  Kate McCann publicly posting those despicable comments to a police officer who was only doing his job is most revealing imo.

This troll knocks the last one into a cocked hat, averaging close to 100 tweets a day 24/7 re: the McCanns and has done so for the last 40-odd months.  Odd being the operative word.  https://twitter.com/RothleyPillow

Do you think this one should have been selected by Sky News for confrontation instead of Ms Leyland?

You'd have thought so wouldn't you?  Do you think the troll example I've highlighted should have been?

You`d need to ask the relevant authorities why other twitter "offenders" have been prosecuted under the present laws ; but not the alleged offenders highlighted by you. It must seem so frustrating!

thanks for the advice and thoughtful words but I was asking you what YOU thought.  If you don't want to just ignore my post or say I'd rather not answer your question rather than deflecting.

That would have been a good idea, although this particular troll is clearly so deranged maybe Sky thought it unwise to target someone with such obvious mental problems?

BTW, which is worse ie likely to cause the most upset: being called a f..king tosser or being accused of causing your child's death and hiding her body?  Angelo seems to think they are equally offensive but I know I would much rather be called the first than accused of the second.  How about you guys?

I think that those who break the law should be investigated...........but it isn`t for you, me or Sky News to decide who has or hasn`t...... or who is or isn`t a troll and target them, when the police haven`t.
