I notice the Mirror is still spreading lies.

'Brenda Leyland, 63, was found dead in a hotel room after being exposed on Sky News for sending vile tweets to Kate and Gerry McCann'

Interesting today.

I posted the link to James O'Brien on LBC about mccann supporting trolls and it has disappeared.

https://mobile.twitter.com/amanda_mccabe/status/519430252104519680

It shall prove 'interesting' to see if it discussed on his program tomorrow or on any other day.

Or will it disappear into the ether ?

These were after she had stopped tweeting by all accounts, and there is no evidence that she exchanged tweets with them in the first place, is there ?

we don't know who she exchanged tweets with...she could have complained to the police but not if she was sending similar tweets back...I'm not really bothered

Not necessary....
.The offence is committed by sending the message. There is no requirement that any person sees the message or be offended by it
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sorry this is all I can post right now….There are too many pages, which I am still reading…………………..
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

(4) Communications which are grossly offensive, indecent, obscene or false

31. Section 127 of the Communications Act 2003 makes it an offence to send or cause to be sent through a "public electronic communications network" a message or other matter that is "grossly offensive" or of an "indecent, obscene or menacing character". The same section also provides that it is an offence to send or cause to be sent a false message "for the purpose of causing annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety to another". The defendant must be shown to have intended or be aware that the message was grossly offensive, indecent or menacing, which can be inferred from the terms of the message or from the defendant's knowledge of the likely recipient. The offence is committed by sending the message. There is no requirement that any person sees the message or be offended by it.
33.Every day many millions of communications are sent via social media and the application of section 1 of the Malicious Communications Act 1988 and section 127 of the Communications Act 2003 to such comments creates the potential that a very large number of cases could be prosecuted before the courts. Taking together, for example, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube, there are likely to be hundreds of millions of communications every month.

Cyber stalking
Harassment can take place on the internet and through the misuse of email. This is sometimes known as 'cyberstalking'. This can include the use of social networking sites, chat rooms and other forums facilitated by technology. The internet can be used for a range of purposes relating to harassment, for example:
to locate personal information about a victim;
to communicate with the victim;
as a means of surveillance of the victim;
identity theft such as subscribing the victim to services, purchasing goods and services in their name;
damaging the reputation of the victim;
electronic sabotage such as spamming and sending viruses; or
tricking other internet users into harassing or threatening a victim.
Further guidance can be found in Communications Offences, elsewhere in the Legal Guidance

This sense of the word troll and its associated verb trolling are associated with Internet discourse, but have been used more widely. Media attention in recent years has equated trolling with online harassment. For example, mass media has used troll to describe "a person who defaces Internet tribute sites with the aim of causing grief to families."[5][6]

It appears that by what you have posted here that the compilers of the 'dossier' have committed a criminal offence by way of 'cyber stalking'. Which then led to a person taking their own life. I wouldn't want to be in their shoes right now! And rather than the leaking of this 'dossier' earning sympathy for the Mcann's,it appears it has actually had the opposite effect!

Where do you find that, Amanda?
 If someone is suspected of abuse,harassment or stalking, the information regarding the suspect/accused, must be revealed by the forum administrator, to the investigator/police. We do not know that the dossier contained the names and addresses of the people involved, do we?

"Damaging the reputation of a victim"?  Isn't that what the online campaign against the McCanns has been doing for the last 7 years?  This therefore rather proves the point that the law is being broken.

Also, the majority of the online comments I have read on newspaper sites appear to be firmly in the "Name and shame trolls" camp, whether or not those leaving the comment are sympathetic to the McCanns or not.

I very much doubt that compiling a dossier of malicious and abusive tweets and public FB comments constitutes cyber stalking - if it did then the dossier compiler(s) would no doubt have been arrested when they handed the thing to the police!

I believe she was also part of a gang intent on outing another twitter user because she believed she was someone directly involved in the McCann case and was pretty abusive and foul to them too.  There really can be no excuse for this sort of behaviour can there?  Did she and her gang of fellow abusers really think that tweets of this nature would help to achieve "Justice For Maddie"?    I would encourage anyone who is currently behaving in this way to think very carefully about what they think they can achieve by this level of continued vitriol and abuse.
