Maybe them curtains blew open then aswell, before returning to their closed position, in preperation for the next dramatic gust.
Absolutly, this whole window/door story is important for this event.
How could the door "slam" in that direction of the wind, and as hard as Kate explains?

We can see clearly on the pictures that have not been any damage to the shutters.
Shouldn´t one of,or both of the twins have woken up if the door was shut as hard as Kate says?
