My favourite opera is Madame Butterfly; matelot on foreign shore promises undying love to oriental bird to get his leg over bird is up duff (Pinkerton you are gone six months and I am six months gone). Matelot returns with filthy rich wife takes child oriental bird tops herself; the end (after much singing and prancing),I never could figure out why the hand maiden was a motorbike though.
Carmen anyone? Sharon and Tracey at the Rothman's fag factory in Basildon with sundry Southend cop villains and few squaddies from Colchester barracks.
Nuffin like a nice bit o' Bizzitt.

Strange - I would have thought Ambroise Thomas "Hamlet" might have featured rather higher in you list........

I think I asked the question, all you could muster were critical acclaim from gutter press, again the question stands, can you quote a credible cite from a non paid MSM source ?
Bet you can't !!!
A non-paid MSM source like a blogger you mean?  Someone like Sonia Poulton perhaps?  Or Mike Spudgun Hardy?  @)(++(* You tell me whose views you consider to be completely unbiased and impartial and I will try and find out what they think of the Missing, how's that?

Anyway, it matters not whose views Tito Muzzy accepts the fact is the Missing has been critically acclaimed by the "dreaded" MSM, as I stated earlier - like it or lump it.

If you draw your information from MSM sources then that is your own blame, I asked a question, you stepped up to the plate, your preferred citations speak volumes !!!

You challenged my assertion that the Missing had been critically acclaimed.  I showed you that it has been ie: acclaimed by professional critics.  Whether or not you agree with their reviews is not my problem, it is however factually correct to state that the Missing is a critically acclaimed BBC drama.

Given the generally poor standard of television drama, that might not mean very much.

No not really, however I disagree that TV drama now is of a low standard.  Compared to what?  People have a tendency to romanticise old telly programmes of yesteryear but if you watch them now they often haven't aged very well.  Personally I think TV drama in recent years has never been better with an absolute plethora of highly watchable series with high production values, great scripts and excellent acting.  Of course it's much more fashionable and easier to sneer.

Well the program is a work of fiction, loosely based on another work of fiction.

Now that sums it up.

I find it difficult to discover anything on TV that I would consider worth watching. Others are obviously more easily satisfied.

Indeed, many programs are execrable.

Pandering to greed or rank stupidity.

There are very few gems about.

What would you consider worth watching?  What aspect of the Missing do you find unworthy?  Is it the acting?  The dialogue?   The cinematography perhaps?  Or perhaps it's the premise?  If there is a plot twist which finds that the Dad dunnit would that perhaps elevate it in your eyes?  Just wondering what it is about this particular drama that McCann sceptics find so unpalatable.
