However, the hypocrisy of appointing her to any post after what she and her husband failed to do in keeping their children safe is quite frankly staggering.

Maybe one of the roles of an ambassador for a charity is to raise the profile and awareness of the functions of that charity. 
The fact that "Missing People" is being discussed here suggests that is one function which has been successfully accomplished.

She and her husband are responsible for Madeleine's fate, until a court proves otherwise.

Personally I think charities have definitely lost touch with public feeling and nowhere is this more obvious than with the bestowing of a Global Legacy award by Save the Children on Tony Blair.

I don't think the role is important...that's why I chose to ignore it...what is important afaiac is the appointment reinforces the public perception of the mccanns innocence

I believe that by the time Kate was made an ambassador she and her husband had given Missing People a hefty donation via their celebrity rooftop  gathering. Perhaps it was a quid pro quo arrangement ?
