No need for you to wonder as there has been quite a lot written about the issues which people feel the need to discuss- This being a discussion board an all.
But just to remind you of one or two wee bits: The fund was NOT SOLD  to the public as a money pit for lawyers. Or to be used for first class travel to meet with lawyers who were being paid from the fund to sue someone. As an Aside- did Gerry or Kate ever take to 'looking' for their daughter on any of these visits? No Probably not, so this is conceived, by many, as a misuse of funds.

I and many other I chat with, have no complaints about the fund being used to pay some mortgage payments and buying treats and holidays for the 'family' even helping to buy a car.  It is the above mentioned issues which are unacceptable to many people, including myself. This is not mccann bashing, it is questioning their motivation for their behaviour. And why they used the fund money for lawyers and not to search for their daughter as the fund claims.

As far as you know, there is no reason for you to know anything about Amaral or his funds-which was set up to fight a couple of chancers who used public gifted funds to sue him!

Amarals fun was set up by friends and those who are concerned about the freedom of expression being denied to him as a European Citizen.  The McCanns have tried tirelessly to silence many people, all to no avail.  They should have spent their time and money on their twins!- who have been harmed by their parents actions!

So, keep Amaral bashing! he did nothing wrong in so far as Maddies disappearance is concerned! and he is nothing to you-not living in the same country he owes you NOTHING.

This thread was set up to goad and troll and bash Amaral... to deflect the real issues!

No idea.

If the organisers of the fund were not going to be "transparent", then why say the fund would be "subject to principles of full transparency and seriousness"?

The idea of a Fund for Goncalo Amaral is not a new one ... it was raised in a rather extraordinary open letter to Dr Kate McCann from Sofia Leal in 2008 ...

And this is just one example among many.

At some point in time, I suggested that we should create a fund or something similar to deal with these extraordinary expenses, but he never listened to me. You see, we also have mortgages to pay around here… A disgrace, Mrs Kate, a disgrace! -

"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

This leaky faucet has no interest in the Find Madeleine Fund nor does it drip information on the Goncalo Amaral Fund perhaps because there is none to drip.

What is of interest is the lack of awareness shown by those who cannot equate constant criticism of one fund with the complete disinterest in the other as a display of contrasting principles.

Those who claim to have contributed happily to one fund and are comfortable with whatever happens to their voluntary donation; show great discontent that contributors to the other fund are similarly agreeable that once they have made their donation they are content that it will be used to fulfil the stated aims of the fund.

One law for them and another for everyone else.

The display of double standards is breath taking ... but the failure to realise it even more so.

Personally, it doesn't bother me if people wish to donate to a fund to preserve the genetic stock of a rainbow-hued onion.

However, I agree that insisting on public transparency on one fund and not the other is somewhat bewildering.

I see your point and wish that others would stop whinging about the mccanns fund and if they have evidence take it up with the relevant authorities instead of using it as another stick to beat them with

I totally agree.
If someone can show* either of "The Funds" has broken the law I will sit up and take notice. Otherwise it is all pointless hot air that no one outside about 35 people on here really give a tinkers cuss about.

Yes, you see this is the impact the Mccanns had on just one family, who had NOTHING TO DO WITH THEIR DAUGHTERS DISAPPEARANCE.

This mother was outraged about a fund being used to pay mortgages for McCanns while they were stressed about future financial hardship.  Nice try Brietta.

Is anyone of the McCann team searching for the Amaral fund?

I am in perhaps the unique, and certainly unusual, position of having contributed to both funds.  Contributions were in the nature of no strings gifts, freely given, and whatever use the recipients choose to make of the money is fine by me.

What is intriguing is difference in conduct of the recipients.

That's laudable of you, JP.

What do you find different in the conduct of the recipients?

I wonder what kind of transparency people would like to see? The fund was created to pay for Snr. Amaral's defence in the courts. Had the money been used for another purpose we wouldn't be waiting for the outcome of the case at the  moment.

I can find no mention of him hiring a plethora of companies specialising in media manipulation, libel and defamation cases or media spokespersons. If he had people might begin to ask questions.

One could make exactly the same comments about the Find Madeleine fund.

I wouldn't disagree.
Who apart from a few numpties on here really gives a rats ass about either fund anyway?

I don't give a ratsass, as I didn't contribute to any fund. However, using the fund money to pay for lawyers to sue someone says a lot about the couple in my opinion. Especially as the 'court case' was /is farcical.

Also, there are some whom I know have contributed to the fund on the premis of helping to find a little missing girl. I am talking pensioners and not very well off people here. They feel let down and some down right angry. That is not to say the like Amaral and hate the family, just how they have behaved.

Do check out the date ... at time of writing Goncalo Amaral was a very well heeled author and TV pundit indeed.

His pension reduction to pay back evaded tax and the property dispute with his brother probably didn't make a dent in his new found wealth and celebrity; any financial difficulties he later found himself in are entirely of his own making.

For the record ... I have neither the time nor the inclination to waste a good hate on a person I do not know ... nor do I have masters of any kind (except maybe my cat who tends to call the shots although in her case it would be mistress).

I will be obliged to you if in future you will refrain from making such nonsensical statements.

Now as we were saying at the beginning of this 'conversation' ... Sofia Leal, wife of former PJ coordinator in Madeleine's case - successful author - TV pundit, Goncalo Amaral ... was the first to mention a fund to boost their finances at a time when their finances were in great nick ...

That is to say nothing of the impact of Madeleine McCann's disappearance on her family which in your book, Goncalo Amaral's book and Paulo Pereira Cristovão's book doesn't count for a thing.
