No doubt, but I don't understand the significance of his arrest in relationship to Madeleine's disappearance.

Paulo Pereira Cristóvão has carved out his own significance in relation to Madeleine McCann.

Paulo Pereira Cristóvão wrote a book about her.

Paulo Pereira Cristóvão became an 'expert' commentator and a pundit in all public arenas concerning the Madeleine McCann disappearance.

The nature of the very serious charges which have been laid against Paulo Pereira Cristóvão  and for which he is in prison while awaiting trial ... have relevance to the nature and character of a man who has set himself up as prosecutor, judge and jury in the the Madeleine McCann case.

People who once claimed Paulo Pereira Cristóvão as one of their own and backed him to the hilt suddenly have dropped him like a hot potato.

Should Paulo Pereira Cristóvão be found guilty of even one of the charges for which he is standing trial, the press campaigns he orchestrated and the significance of the career he carved out for himself as an 'expert' on a child he declared was dead ... must give pause for thought to even the most rabid of his fan base.

"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

There has been a lot of criticism of the McCanns choice of private detectives re their criminal activity. There seems to be a lot of detectives from the PJ involved with the Maddie case who have now got criminal records...strange but true

Cristóvão was not involved in the investigation of Madeleine's disappearance. The only thing he did was write a book about it, as did other people.

Not to worry Davel, they'll never be short of work. I'm sure that once they've done their time they can always apply to the McCanns for work as PIs.

And of course
Paulo Pereira Cristovao was made President of the new Portuguese Association for Missing Children

and he refused to list Madeleine originally as missing ... saying her parents were involved

FGS ... Just WHO appointed such a man to be President of such an organisation?

Cristavao was in the perfect position to watch what developments were taking place in the hunts for the missing children ... and as an "Authority" by dint of his position as head of the Missing Children Organisation his word would carry clout.

Was he appointed with that in mind?

Just WHO appointed him?

Oh YES, he is of interest in the Madeleine case ... even if to only point out that he refused her name to be included in the Missing Children list, intimating that her parents were involved.

And, imo, potentially the people who appointed him could be of interest

Seems he may have appointed himself, Sadie, unless we have yet another poor translation on our hands.

Interestingly among his literary efforts is an authoritative work 'about the dark and corrupt side of the PJ.'

**snip
Moreover, was acquitted of torture charges against Leonor Cipriano, Joana's mother (a child who disappeared in the Algarve), became media commenting on cases of police on television, created the Portuguese Association of Missing Children with friend and lawyer Pragal Colaco, whom he incompatibilizou, and became, according to his profile on Linkedin network administrator in a company based in Luxembourg that provides consultancy in the area of football. He wrote five books, three of them on missing children: Joanna, Maddie and Rui Pedro (missing in Lousada). In the remaining works, one is on the profile cases of national football and the other a novel about the dark and corrupt side of the PJ.
