From a poster on Amazon.

Apparently the mccanns have made a response in the Star.

----------------------------------------

''Kate and Gerry McCann said they are incredibly grateful to every officer working to find Madeleine.

They insisted there is "still a job of work to be done" by the 31-strong Operation Grange team assigned solely to the case.''

and

''A friend of Kate, 47, and Gerry, 46, said: "It is up to the Met, the Prime Minister and the Home Office to decide the longevity of the investigation - not the Police Federation which has its own agenda."

snipped

I doubt very much that the McCanns have made any response to the Star.

IMO the only comments directly attributed to them are old  comments - rehashed.   The final quoted comment is not a comment from the McCanns nor is it attributed to them.

The notion that innocence prevails over guilt – when there is no evidence to the contrary – is what separates civilization from barbarism.    Unfortunately, there are remains of barbarism among us.    Until very recently, it headed the PJ in Portimão. I hope he was the last one.

Couldn't agree more...Tully using maddie to make his point..disgraceful

Disgraceful dave ?

What is disgraceful, is that crimes that should be investigated are not being so.

Tully isn't responsible for that.

So dave, if potential/actual criminals aren't being investigated and/or arrested, are you happy with that ?

I hope one day you won't have cause to regret your comments on here, as regards policing.

I'm what some call a "McCann doubter" but in no way do I want to see OG shelved. I don't believe that OG will be a whitewash and I believe that those who are carrying out the investigation want to find out what happened to Madeleine McCann. I don't understand these people who are complaining about £ 10 million and 31 officers, that's a drop in the bucket for an entire budget. Aren't the police supposed to solve mysteries and crimes? So, let them do it.

Agreed...the entire budget is £3500,000,000

Are you happy that crimes that could be solved, aren't because of the money diverted to this case ?

What price is high enough for you and the mccanns dave  ?

Finances for Operation Grange never were part of the Met Budget ... and were the investigation into a missing child stopped prematurely policing in London would not benefit financially because the Operation Grange budget would not go to the Met ... even if it did, in the sphere of the costs of policing the capital, it is a drop in the ocean ... the 31 officers would probably end up in receipt of redundancy payment.

So who precisely would benefit from that?
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

How about them solving 'local crimes for local people'?  ?{)(**
I believe everything. And l believe nothing.
I suspect everyone. And l suspect no one.
I gather the facts, examine the clues... and before   you know it, the case is solved!"

Or maybe not -

OG have been pushed out by the Germans who have reserved all the deck chairs for the foreseeable future

You can argue the toss until the end of time.

£10,000,000 and counting.

Where will it end...............................

I understand your position, but to me the key point is this.

The investigating team by public record have exonerated the mccanns and therefore presumably the rest of the group.

How can they do this when it hasn't been  determined what happened to Madeleine ?

Redundancy ?

So you would agree then these 31 could ber deployed elsewhere and solve crimes that can be determined.

Absolutely!  I find the all out attack on Operation Grange which in the sphere of things and for the type of investigation it is exceptionally good value for money.  I am astounded that at the 11th hour of finding out what actually happened there are those who prefer to abandon the opportunity to perhaps apprehend a criminal.

I can only assume they really do not want Madeleine found and the case solved because it would remove their raison d'etre of posting daily the foulest calumnies they can think of about the family of a missing child.

Cuts have consequences is the message that John Tully of the Police Federation failed to put over.

You for one have missed entirely the global message he was putting out on Budget day by concentrating on the minutiae which in real terms is counting the cost of paper clips.

Sometimes you miss the point completely Stephen.

Operation Grange does not impinge one iota on the policing of London and if you or anyone else thinks the officers will just be slotted back in to solve outstanding crime you are up a gum tree.

John Tully was talking about the CLOSURE of stations and reductions in personnel increasing workload ... then you missed that of course.

I missed nothing.

What is readily apparent, is that you are clearly happy with the wasting of tax-payers money by Cameron into a dead end case.

Anyone who really wants to find out what happened to Madeleine McCann would in my opinion be anxious that the current Portuguese and British investigations continue to their conclusion.
I agree that appx £2million per annum (don't think it is quite at 10 yet) is indeed a drop in the bucket, particularly as it does not come entirely from the Met budget.
