I always felt it was  a disgrace for the archiving report to suggest the mccanns should demonstrate their innocence...good to see the learned judge agrees with me

What were the exact words in context used in the archiving report?

I think you need to read them in context as they do not support what you are saying.

I've read them in context...they do support my view. The archiving report was  a disgrace in asking the mccanns to demonstrate their innocence...don't you agree

The archiving report did not ask the McCann to demonstrate their innocence or suggest that they had themselves avoided doing so.

In 2008 if they had returned to Portugal (even if the other invited people hadn't) the line about not demonstrating innocence wouldn't and couldn't have been included. But they didn't go back.
how would the simple act of returning to Portugal have demonstrated their innocence?

the mccanns should not have been asked to demonstrate their innocence...according to the judge...it's a bit complicated dear so don't worry if you don't understand it

I don't remember anyone asking them to demonstrate their innocence? It says that the refusal of their friends to attend a reconstruction meant that the McCanns lost the possibility to prove their innocence;

Nevertheless, despite national authorities assuming all measures to render their trip to Portugal viable, for unknown motives, after the many doubts that they raised about the necessity and opportunity of their trip were clarified several times, they chose not to attend, which rendered the diligence inviable.

We believe that the main damage was caused to the McCann arguidos, who lost the possibility to prove what they have protested since they were constituted arguidos: their innocence towards the fateful event; the investigation was also disturbed, because said facts remain unclarified.

It would have demonstrated cooperation with the investigation.

The McCann never refused to return. But returning would have neither supported nor opposed their innocence.

But not innocence.

"Prove" or "Demonstrate" the Archiving document did not put any burden on the McCann to do anything to address their innocence.

Read the original in context.

Nevertheless they did not return did they.

Nevertheless they did not return did they.

They did not return for the reconstruction because it was never organised. Even if they had returned, it could not have happened with the absence of many other participants.

Anyway it had no relationship with their Innocence.
