The Tapas Note.
« on: May 04, 2015, 12:00:31 PM »
In her book Madeleine Kate describes coming across a note in the files written by one of the receptionists at the pool reception detailing the group's request to eat at the tapas each night.

'It wasn’t until a year later, when I was combing through the Portuguese police files, that I discovered that the note requesting our block booking was written in a staff message book, which sat on a desk at the pool reception for most of the day. This book was by definition accessible to all staff and, albeit unintentionally, probably to guests and visitors, too. To my horror, I saw that, no doubt in all innocence and simply to explain why she was bending the rules a bit, the receptionist had added the reason for our request: we wanted to eat close to our apartments as we were leaving our young children alone there and checking on them intermittently.'

However I have looked through the files and can find nothing to substantiate that this note ever existed. I can find no file reference which relates to the note and no mention of it by any other witness. Of course we know there are files which were never made public, and which the McCanns had exclusive access to, but even those have  a file reference number.

So am I simply missing the evidence available and some helpful forum member will point me to it or was the note never in the files in the first place ?

The argument goes something like this - Kate had a different set of files to everyone else

Given that we know that some files were withheld or otherwise never made it into the public domain, you have no rational way to prove it did not exist.

Luisa Coutinho, receptionist at the Tapas area, stated she made a block booking for the T9 as they had children nearby, then showed the police the Tapas booking book.
What's up, old man?

The DVDs were never intended for general publication ... who else do you know of who has a legitimate copy has ever illegally published any part of them?

"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

Faithlilly, do you have access to the staff message book in which the receptionist's note appears, according to Kate?    If not, do you dispute its existence also?

This is the statement you are referring to SL

Nowhere does the receptionist say she wrote anything about the children being alone.

Nowhere in her statement does she specify precisely what she did write either.

No, shame there wasn't a photo of the actual page - then there could be no dispute over what was written.

The note referred to is not on the DVD containing the files.
A malicious prosecution for a crime which never existed. An exposé of egregious malfeasance by public officials.
Indeed, the truth never changes with the passage of time.

The arguidos were given fuller copies as required by Portuguese laws. The pirate version was an expurgated version for the press which was meant to be privileged. This was broken by its publication on the internet by unlawful means.

It begs the question as to why versions should be different and who decided what information would be left in, or out.
