Can we not work together ?
« on: May 07, 2015, 01:39:32 AM »
I remember posting on websleuths when April Jones was murdered. Everyone was working together, on there, even if some had their own theories, still they worked together...here seems like terrible....so many people with different skills and abilities, shame someone or something doesnt allow that.. I dont believe in ghosts, neither do I believe that most normal people would not want to engage in any high profile case to bring light to it...what you say

Considering you spent three hours last night posting abusive and unintelligible goading and aggressive posts, all of which were almost immediately removed, you can hardly complain about the lack of a collegiate atmosphere here.

Calls for Facebook page where trolls are posting cruel insults about missing April Jones' family to be taken down

Mark Bridger, 46, has been charged with the abduction and murder of the five-year-old, who is yet to be found
Police are taking steps to shut down the Facebook group, named 'Mark Bridger - Guilty Or Not Guilty - Have Your Say'
The web page contains insults directed at missing April's devastated family and speculation about the case
April disappeared on October 1 after being seen getting into a car near her home in the rural Welsh village of Machynlleth

The abduction and suspected murder of five-year-old April Jones shocked the nation and sparked an outpouring of grief that saw crowds gather for a procession through her Welsh hometown in a show of support for her devastated family.
But as hundreds of people turned out in Machynlleth to sympathise with the family following Mark Bridger's arrest on suspicion of killing the schoolgirl, internet trolls compounded their misery by posting false accusations and insults aimed at April's relatives on Facebook.
Almost 1,000 people have joined the online group, called Mark Bridger - Guilty Or Not Guilty - Have Your Say, which police have vowed to shut down.

Bridger, 46, who is known to April's family, has been charged with murder, child abduction, and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Facebook users had posted comments about April's heartbroken mother Coral Jones, 40, on the webpage, and criticised the pink ribbon campaign she devised to help keep the search for her cherished daughter at the forefront of peoples' minds, according to a report in the Daily Star.

Others posted speculation about what happened to the little girl, despite the fact that public discussion of the case is forbidden under contempt-of-court laws until the trial concludes.

Some members of the group reportedly claim to be from around April's home town of Machynlleth.

A police spokesman told the newspaper: 'We will take immediate steps to get this closed down.'

Today some comments and users had been deleted from the page, which is visible to members only.

A week ago more than 700 people gathered at the Bryn-y-Gog estate and walked through Machynlleth in a silent procession to St Peter's Church to pay their respects at an emotional service for missing April.

Many people in the crowd wore pink ribbons, symbolising the fading hope the schoolgirl could still be alive.

"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

Unfortunately Mercury the only way the McCanns and their supporters can rationalise the questioning of themselves and their story is to paint those questioning as mentally deficient, morally corrupt trolls. How can you build a relationship with people who think like that which would be beneficial to Madeleine ?

People who support the right of people to be considered innocent before the law do not need to rationalise anything. That is the natural position of a good citizen.

People who engage in a conspiracy with others to defame, bully and harass people considered innocent before the law need to do plenty of rationalising. Because theirs is the position of the anti social vigilante.

I've never done any of the above.

Obviously there will be spats from time to time because of opposing viewpoints - but if people would stick to ...  'Attack the post and not the poster'  then no serious problems would arise IMO.

The notion that innocence prevails over guilt – when there is no evidence to the contrary – is what separates civilization from barbarism.    Unfortunately, there are remains of barbarism among us.    Until very recently, it headed the PJ in Portimão. I hope he was the last one.

I completely agree. Respect for other's views would make all the difference. Attacking the poster is counter-productive anyway because it makes it so obvious that the attacker is losing the argument and has nothing else to offer.

Despite being "unintelligible" you are still able to label this poster`s posts abusive, goading and aggressive, though?

Immediate removal of posts can possibly indicate bias rather than fault............I expect you have the statistics at your fingertips..............It`ll be something to do with "expectation" and having the desired result already in mind.

You are saying that a good citizen should never question the story of anyone who has not been arrested and charged with an offense. A good citizen should shut up and leave everything to our elected government and the police. The government and the police would really like that, i'm sure, but it's never going to happen.

People who express honest doubts about something are not part of a conspiracy, they do not defame, bully and harass and they are not anti-social vigilantes. They are expressing an opinion which some people don't like or agree with. Attacking them and calling them names aren't the actions of  good citizens in my opinion, they are the actions of a group who have decided that no doubting is allowed. No opinions are allowed except those promoted by the group. Anyone professing doubts therefore is beyond the pale and deserves all the abuse directed at them. In earlier times the Inquisitors would, no doubt, have used the rack to make them retract their mistaken views and conform to those held by the Inquisitor's masters. Amaral's book wouldn't have been banned, it would have been burned.

Work together for what though? Do you guys seriously think you will crack this case then? IMO it's just a bunch of armchair sleuths endlessly discussing much of the same topics - we all know this. Don't stop trying though maybe you will find something, but even if you did who would listen? My guess is you all just enjoy debating and sometimes goading. Most are just entrenched in their views one way or the other, which is hard to understand given the lack of any evidence. Convincing arguments can be made either way without any real evidence. I certainly don't think anyone should be abusing the McCanns. If they are innocent. What then? Would you feel good about yourself?

Some of the goading last night was ridiculous, but entertaining. Can we have a forum awards for the best goader? There are some worthy candidates   %£&)**#

Perhaps we should vote on various categories? Most patronising, best goader, most insulting etc.
