What happens to the donations if an appeal is refused?

Amaral's name is not on the Fund documents. Ultimately he can have no legal say where any money goes, although I doubt it will find its way to the McCanns.

I would be highly delighted if it were true.

Ms. Leanne Baulch (I'm sure, a young woman of the highest integrity) would not want to take money (even if not to personal advantage) under false pretences, which would be the case were Amaral to be denied leave to appeal.

I suppose she could canvass the opinions of donors on the money being used in a different way, such as paying it direct to Amaral.

But I'm sure she would leave open the option of donations being refunded if that's what donors want.

I believe the donations are paid into the organiser's bank account and Go Fund Me do not "do" refunds ... so it could end up a rather complicated business particularly where a small amount is involved.

If you sign up for GoFundMe from the UK, Australia or Europe, a Stripe account will automatically be created for you under the same email address. Stripe is a payment processor that securely processes your donations and withdrawals.
 
After your first donation is received, Stripe will send you an email to activate your account. Activating requires you to enter your personal information and add your bank account.
 
Once your account is activated, Stripe will send you your donations on a rolling 7-day basis. For example, any donations you receive on a Monday would appear in your bank account the following Monday.

Obviously Stripe receive payment for this service ... whether this includes or is extra to Go Fund Me's fee ... I have no idea, but GFM does have special rates for charities.

If payments cannot be refunded, why was money coming out of the account?

Also there is an update from LB on Twitter about an hour ago with a copy email regarding the fund.
