Based on the fanatical zeal I've seen from some Amaral supporters, the repeat donations, the quasi-religious and reverent tones used to address him, it honestly wouldn't surprise me if some of these people actually would lay down their lives for their hero, sad to say.  And that's not satire.

and conveniently you forget the mccann supporters who treat the mccanns in a quasi religious way, or further.

Shades of Jonestown or what?  Who can tell, but one can certainly tell from their comments that there are those who give the appearance of being besotted with a particular individual with almost as many more showing an extraordinary antipathy to another.  Neither individual being remotely connected or known to them in any way whatsoever.
Showing what I believe is really odd behaviour, if it is not a cult ... what is it.

I most firmly believe that the disappearance of Madeleine McCann has inadvertently done great things for Justice in Portugal.  But I doubt that I would place religious connotations on this.
Sometimes these things are just Karma.

It is a fundamental human right, if anyone has a problem with it, they can take it to court, but, preferably addressing issues and not demanding outright gagging, book burning and other uncivilised extreme measures
