Alf's just invented one. According to him it has 300 odd members.

posters seem to be taking the defence of this cult very seriously...looks like Alf is getting too close to the truth

Which is more than David Koresh or Charles Manson had...

Well it is one of Alf's better creations.

Nah.

Oh but you are!
I for one would be here if it was a forum discussing the merits of concrete fence posts and wooden fence posts because I am argumentative. Pick a side, pitch in and the next best thing to playing and winning is playing and losing; not playing at all isn't an option.

Ok, but that's another reason why people will be supporting GA: there was a big award made against him, but nothing against the film producers, TV channel or book publisher.

Can Amaral be blamed for the actions of VC Filmes/VC Multimedia? The judge may have found the above point proved but then didn't make those companies pay anything anyway. Everything fell on Amaral alone, guaranteeing that he would get sympathy.

There is really only one reason why Amaral has such a devoted cult following and that is because he is the McCanns chief tormentor, and therefore in the topsy-turvy land of the "sceptic" that makes him a jolly decent chap.

Was such a large sum raised for him before the huge sum was awarded against him in the court?

Oh Lookies here an .'Amaral bashing' thread, how quaint. AND It is being populated by those who don't like bashing people. Oh well let me see...

Ah seems like the fund for Amaral has really got up the team McCanns and their merry band of followers a...

I mean why would anyone bother, they won!!!  well oops no they didn't.  The documentary still stands-based on the book...wow who da thunk it. So that must mean that the Judge didn't think the book was evil  and bad...just not very Team McCANN friendly... oh well never mind.

No, because his followers had absolutely convinced themselves that Amaral had an ace up his sleeve and was going to make toast of the McCanns, remember those days?

Then all those truly believing that would surely have been sending him big sums of cash long ago wouldn't they?

What for?  They believed that he was soon to be reunited with his pot of gold, but they got it wrong.  They couldn't bear to see their hero thwarted, hence the collecting of alms to ensure that he has no excuse not to fight the good fight once more.
