The real sadness is that he might have lost his liberty for some 30 years as a result of a MoJ.

Nostalgia and memorabilia are inconsequential compared with the above and loss of life and grieving relatives.

If that were the case it would be a tragedy but I can't see any reason to believe it is.  Jeremy made his bed and now he has to live with the consequences.

Apologies John.

Back to your original post:  I don't think CC can say it undermines our democratic system to have someone given 25yrs on a 10-2 majority verdict but then be told it is increased to life try to appeal that.  From what I can see, JB is virtually the only person in his position who isn't a serial killer, motivated by psychosis.  If he has never been found to have psychopathic traits and he has served his whole sentence I think there is a reasonable argument that he has done his time.  Other child killers have been let out, it would not be a new departure.  I don't like the idea of a democratic system wher you can essentially be locked up without appeal on the whim of a politician.

It must be terrible for CC - but he wrote a book, so his daughter was bound to find out.  If it had been me, I might well have changed my family name.

Colin Caffell has no room to talk.  He was duped by Jeremy too and lent him support after the murders.

If he did in fact say to police "has she finally done it" when told of the catastrophe then he must accept responsibility too.

Passer-by, hello. Was not the caveat that he should serve a minimum of 25 years?

Hello April:  surely any justice system should have sentencing that is clearly defined at the outset with understood parameters of what's required rather adding things on at the whim of a politician.  I'm inclined to agree with Simon Baron-Cohen's theory that most killers at the end of the scale I'm sure many would be happy to see hanged are 'suffering' a neurological condition rather than are 'evil' and need treatment much like those who are insane, rather than punishment (though it's doubtful any could be reversed).

Because he was convicted by a majority jury rather than unanimously, ironically JB would have been better off under the laws that existed before we abolished the Death Penalty:  he would have had a set 25 year sentence and been free.  However he has been lumped in with the people who the State is accommodating until they die because they cannot now be hanged.

It seems whatever he does, Jeremy Bamber inhabits the 'Grey Area'.

Under no circumstances should JB release any personal info into the public domain re the twins.  He has no right to as he was not their next of kin.  If the info is deemed necessary for any appeal etc then it should all be handled by his solicitors.

JB does talk fondly about the twins from time-to-time.  I guess after 30 years incarcerated and the fact they were only part of his life for 6 years the memories have faded.

But the point is, he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.  CC specifically singles out avoidance of confronting their crimes as a classic trait of child killers, yet if JB were to talk about it or disclose information it would be used against him and cited as deliberately causing distress to CC which would scupper any chances of prison rebanding or release.

I agree, politicians should not be meddling in sentencing.
